The thing with tough love, I feel you need to do it when your kids are young so that they could have that support to feel that tough love without it being traumatic. Like when you show a kid “tough love” they’re still in your house safe, and still open to learning. Giving a adult child tough love could feel like abandonment because you waited until they were all grown, able to make their own decisions and thoughts to throw them into the real world. This isn’t a hate comment bout ol dude at all I get were he was coming from period, this is just how I feel about tough love and when I believe is the most beneficial time to use it.
