I agree that this version is magnificent. I really loved their choice to isolate the "I am". Austin finished the preceding word 'great' with a hard 't', and there was a beat of complete silence, then they the obvious climax with 'I am' , then another beat of silence. Dynamically this was the peak of the song, and for me the rests before and after those two little words added greater emphasis to the unity of the Father and the Son. It was an unexpected but extremely effective choice.

Great review. Your facial expressions mirrored my feelings when I listened to this. For comparison, a few days ago I listened to the Pentatonix version and while very good, it gave me a greater appreciation for what HF does. PX has two voices so similar if you aren't looking, you can't tell who is singing and their tones are clear, almost crystal cold. With HF, every voice is distinctive and when you put them together they blend with such warmth it goes to another level.

The difference of HF's version vs. all other versions before it is that it is distinctive by the arrangement they did. HF always stretches their performance by going outside the box and are not afraid to try different artistic approaches. For me they are fearless because they know they have the talent to achieve excellence in anything they do.

Different doesn't mean bad. It just means different. Tempo, genre, range, all of it changes the nuances of the song without changing the song. The lyrics are the lyrics but how they're delivered differs between the Voctave, Pentatonix, and Home Free versions (the three I'm aware of). All of them are what I would consider 'exceptional' in their own way. Great reaction as always Michael. Take care all.

I think this is going on Mike's Christmas playlist !! It is such a great arrangement. They also emphazised I AM differently than almost ever other artist. That is called putting your mark on this one ! By the way he never got to solo but a lot of that bass was coming from the underrated & underappreciated Mr Adam Chance. He's gotten to be even a better bass since he's joined Home Free...I don't know for sure but maybe Tim has been working with him ??? anyways another "FIRE" reaction. and please do react to their collab with Texas Hill. It's awesome too. I don't know if it'll take you to church, but it'll get you dancing in the chair !

This song and version is beyond molten hot. The arrangement and singing are pure and impressive. They toss out a wall of sound like no other but it does not run you over. And Adam...in my opinion...his best blend and beat to date. The old school R/B vibe is just awesome. Well done syd....

Home Free totally blew everything out of the water, from Adam's amazing beatboxing, and Chance's (Oh my goodness!!!) phenomenal bass, to the trio of soul-searing leads... Glad to see you back in fine form! I've often wondered if people send Adam clips of off the wall sounds and dare him to replicate the sound and put it in a song somehow! This group of men took a fairly traditional Christmas song and took it to another level where all is shiny and new again. Yet they didn't lose the essence of the original. LAVA!!! Oh DramaSydE, this was incredible! Your sound system is so good that I heard some more sounds that I didn’t hear with other reactors. Adam was AMAZING! I heard towards the end his little weird twang or something with the amazing drums and Chance’s growls…holy cow especially near the end with “I am”. But then near the beginning I heard his drums with what sounded like a guitar noise…I don’t even know…sheesh…it was amazing. And those harmonies….LOVE THIS!!! Great reaction Drama!

I've been checking daily to see if you'd reacted to this! DSyde - you hit the nail on the head with this one - truly remarkable beat boxing by Mr Rupp which transported the song into the atmosphere...actually to the Moon!! The arrangement is (imho) Darren Rust's greatest achievement to date. The rich harmonies as only HF can blend like M-A-G-I-C... Just a masterpiece of musicality! Dude!!!! There's no need to pick and choose. Every group has their specialties! This will always be my favorite version simply because of the tonal qualities balancing so well with each other - Tim and Austin blend beautifully, and Rob and Chance are silky smooth together. Adam doing his thing, keeping everything together... Certain types of voices hurt my eardrums, but HF's mix is perfect. For me, since every person has their own quirks and preferences. Absolutely loved how each progressive harmony had your eyes wide, especially the crescendo into 'the great I Am'! Thank you again, good sir, for allowing us to join you down the rabbit hole.
