With flat gold sandals and a gold bangle, I'd drift about in that caftan in summer - to the shops, to a BBQ, to an artisan market, restaurant or for sightseeing. You're covered up enough not to burn and if it is breathable, it would be lovely and cool to wear and stylish at the same time. Much better than getting sunburnt in shorts and a tshirt, as well as prettier and almost queenly to my eye. I bet you feel great in it.

I made several caftans in the 80's. Used cotton velour for after bath, summer seersucker. Loved to take off my suit after work and wear a caftan around the house. Yours is great.

Grace, that is quite the fabric. The caftan is perfect for it. I made the Michelle Sews caftan in the early fall, but it's from a rayon and not warm enough to wear around here at the moment. I will wear it in the summer when it's hot. Probably just around home. I'm currently finishing So Carole's Butterick t-shirt. I'm really happy with the fit. Grace, everyone is saying how beautiful you look in the kaftan, and you do! You put a lot of time into that garment because of the required pinning. Butterick 7009 was the pattern I wanted you to make remember we talked about it. I can't wait to see what fabric you choose for it.

I'd love to see how you sew knits Grace. I had problems sewing a thin knit on both my sewing machine & overlocker. Once I master a pattern I'm all good but usually it's "fearful sewing" not "fearless". You always seem so confident & your makes are impeccable!

Nice pattern haul! The swimsuit is cute. I would say, keep it 2 pieces and just make the top longer and/or the bottom taller. I shy away from one piece swimsuits because I can't get them off when they're wet! LOL I need someone to peel me out. I can't use the bathroom either. The fabric for your caftan looks like monkey skulls to me. You wear it well but the monkeys are distracting. TMI?
