I shoot with Nikon, I use my iPad and the cascable app with a cable or wifi. You can also connect it directly to Lightroom classic with your laptop

I shoot with Sony, so you can’t shoot to Lightroom I don’t think. There might be a workaround, but I don’t use it. I tether with a tether tools cable from my camera to my laptop, and use Capture One.

Hey Matt, hoping you can help me as I am trying to emulate this exact picture. I am new to OCF. I have two FJ400. I don’t have a black backdrop so I know it won’t be as good, but I have the ambient light fairly dark at 1/200, f9-f11, ISO 100. I have a softbox set up pointing down like you do. I have a deep focus reflector on the light in the back shoulder height. The only difference is I have a blue flexigel on the light. Key light is at 5 and back light I have tried between 7 and 9. The back light gives off some blue when nobody is in front of it but as soon as I put someone in front of it you don’t see the blue at all. Do I need the light a little higher to get over the persons back? Do I need to do something different since it is a flexigel? I have tried it without any reflector on and with both the 15 and 30 honeycomb grid. Better with those grids on or off? Any guidance you can provide would be much appreciated! EDIT: I realized you did not have a deep focus reflector on so I took that off and am getting blue now. However, the blue I am getting is a much lighter blue. Can I achieve the look you had with flexigels or do I need to use something more similar to what you used?

The more you turn down the light the more saturated the color will be! Are you using any kind of atmosphere to help spread out the blue? That’s a big part of it. You need to watch the other video I have dedicated to the flexigels I think that might help!

@@MattHernandez I had not yet added fog. That was the next step, but even before you added fog you still had some decent blue color. I’ve looked into getting a black backdrop and that should help. I had previously watched your flexi gels video but thanks for linking me back to that as it has been a little while. I’ll rewatch.

A strobe is an off camera flash haha. Do you mean a speed light maybe? If so, yes you absolutely could!

I got them on B&H! They are ROSCO gels. Amazon has some too but Rosco is the best IMO.

Good stuff. Thoughts on the canned fog vs a handheld glycerin fogger? Does the canned fog leave any residue if used heavily in one spot? Probably wouldn't be allowed back into the gym if a big slippery spot was left...?

Do you find a bounce card to deflect light from underneath to be too soft for the purposes of the photo or does the fill light work better for you? BTW, great video. Love all your work. It's great to see your thought processes for different shots.

Thank you! A bounce would work well. I do use that type of fill in certain situations, but the light offers more control so more times than not I’ll go for that.

question i tried to do this the other day but with the new A9iii and when i put on the sony fj trigger my live view goes away and does this crazy grainy view on my screen but when i press my button to see what my shot looks like its clear but when i look at my screen it so grainy looking ...its like something makes my live view go like its on 51000iso but my setting is at iso will be 250 or 400 in my studio ....so i dont know why my screen goes all grain looking ...any ideas what can make this happen
