It was great timing that John Tumpane was there at the right time. I hope the lady he talked off the bridge gets the help she needs.

In today’s world nobody steps up. The fact he did is amazing, saving her is a bonus. We are a detached society in decay. 🇺🇸

Looks like the Roberto Clemente bridge. That fall wouldn't have killed you, you could possibly drown though. Seems like it was a cry for help and I hope she has gotten her life figured out more than she did that day. Good for him for being a decent human.

thankfully this bridge is only about 75 feet tall so she probably would have lived even if she jumped off... glad she could get some help though

He became an umpire in 2010. You can be a veteran umpire after like half a decade of umpiring but prolly need to retire before you get as old and fat as joe west.

I spent a week in that city only to find out two years later the whole fiasco could have been avoided. My former fiance at the time wanted to visit her family while all they did was fight. I was bribed into babysitting in exchange for Steeler tickets we DIDN'T get! My mother knew it was my grandfather's last Christmas but lied to me, so I wouldn't come home to see him for his last Christmas and then told me the truth two years later. I'll never set foot in that city again.

Black people go straight to the bottom. They have much lower body fat and are generally afraid of the water. All American sailors are required to learn how to swim (or at least they used to). If you couldn't demonstrate your ability to swim, they put you in the "rocks class", where you were given instruction, then put in a pool where the instructors had 10 foot poles to keep the recruits from touching the side of the pool. The "rocks" were all black.

Why don't we highlight all the people involved.I am prety sure he wasn't the only one there obviously. This is what news does. Finds stories where there are 'important' people involved and say aww isn't that nice. An athlete helped, or an umpire helped. What about the first responders that do it ever day. We give them any air time? Nahhh

Did you not understand the story? He grabbed her first, before anyone else could help. He kept her from jumping in the first place. Plus, HE was the one trying to talk her out of it. And after they got her off the rail, he was still comforting her. In short, he saved her life, the others were only helping him.
