I live in Brazil, and as a introvert living in an extrovert country that put more value in extroverted people's, wealth and beauty, i always had this feeling of isolation. I just gave up and put on my social mask.

I think this song is heavily based off of goffman’s theory of dramaturgy. Of which suggests that when we are born, we are thrust onto the stage called everyday life and when we are in the company of others, we are “in the front stage”. We are acting in front of others and so is the other person you’re interacting with. And we learn our own roles from seeing others act out their roles. I’ve also read that dramaturgy could be some kind of mental illness, which one of its biggest symptoms is feeling a loss of identity and self. Tbh, I think that this song is a mixture of both. The lyrics depict both having a loss of identity “I don’t know what role I was suited for..” and performing as an actor. Basically how keeping up with how you come off on other people. Except it doesn’t seem like they’re showing who they want to be, it’s like someone else wants them to act like certain people in front of others. There is a man described, and he seems to show up in the MV as a black figure with a top hat and white mask. It is said that “he appears to those who’ve given up” and the more I analyze the lyrics, the more he seems like the devil, tempting you to give up your own life/soul for the way you come off onto people, the way people see you, their opinion of you. Of course that’s only my own way of seeing it, if you want more insight into what made me form this opinion, look up “dramaturgy” and an article about goffman’s theory should come up.

I agree with what you're saying and I personally think that that "I don't know what role I was suited for" could be referring to depersonalization, where you feel disconnected from yourself as if you were watching life from within your own body. I experienced this a lot myself and I've noticed there is another stage to it where you can't even tell if you are yourself and cant feel anything on the inside. Like there's a "gaping hole in my chest." Since you don't feel anything on the inside you cant act like yourself, and act to try and hide whatever might be causing this gaping hole in your chest.

The best way to understand these characters and metaphors in this song is probably by reading Kara No Kioku and watching E ves other videos. These MVs are made by Mah, so they're just Mahs interpretation of the lyrics. Not an actual part of the song.

if ppl were curious, the song is about by Goffman’s Dramaturgy, which is the concept that reality is a play and we are all actors masking our real identity

I think it's also related to Jung's persona concept (persona is the latin word for theatrical masks) and to Pirandello's maschera concept (every people have different mask, to adapt in relation to the context)
@iamthinking2252_3 жыл бұрын
We're all actors, I can agree, but this play is eternal - with no end, merely intermissions, and the audience is the actors who're also on the same stage that stretches to wherever people are

@@mikebather6688 I found this when Pj sekai added the song to the game as a cover
Dramaturgy is the concept of the never ending play that is life, in which we are the actors. We put on a mask so people don’t know our real identity. But acting is never true. We can never see into a person’s thoughts. We pretend to be someone else, in hopes that we can be liked. But being someone else never works. We want to give up on life, and we don’t know what to do. The play falls apart, yet the actors desperately try to give out their lines. Soon enough, the end roll plays for them. They never say another line. Edit: tfw u make an explanation on the song and have spent time theorising and shit and then people say its edgy (though it kinda is) and it’s about stage-play when i was just trying to explain the song

Well that's deep but true and you also explain what's the meaning of the song so thanks . But how ever i see life as slavery becuz we our self always have to facing an enternal pain from others who is higher in position and power some times others get the long sticks,while others get the short end and have to suffer but how ever if we some how can turn against that slavery we too can enjoy happinesss once again as long as it not bad that's it nothing else nothing more but if we accept what's gonna come to us we will be free from the husk that is our own been . To put it simply if we can make things better with ourself inside and outside than we can have an enternal happiness . But if we accept it we will be fulfilled with ourself

In sociology, there is a term called "Goffman's dramaturgy" that says we develop different roles in society depending on who we are facing, and we are often in the "front stage", putting up a performance. This song seems to be referring exactly to that.

Taito? I’ve not heard of that music game? I’m very familiar with many Japanese music arcade games, and I’ve not heard of a game called Taito. I’ve heard of a company called Taito which makes “Bust a Move”/“Bubble Bobble,” but I don’t know any music games by that company. What was the name of the music game that has this song? The closest name I know to that name is Taiko (Taiko no Tatsujin). Can you please tell me what music game has songs by Eve?
