I’m a psychologist as well as a classically trained musician (voice flute, organ), and must take issue with your incredibly simplistic “prescription.” For one thing, it’s obvious that you all have very little understanding of pediatric psychology and psychiatry, and have adopted the ridiculously ignorant myth that these professionals immediately start stuffing childrens’ mouths with psychotropic drugs in response to their parents’ concerns! Simply introducing classical music doesn’t do anything _whatsoever_ for the immature nervous system without guidance by an adult. Your extrapolation of strategies which work for YOU, but-I’m surprised you didn’t think of this yourself-doesn’t automatically make sense to children, because they aren’t capable of making that kind of cognitive connection on their own without guidance. *The first strategy anxious children need is assistance from a competent developmental/pediatric psychologist who can teach relaxation strategies at a child’s developmental level, using music or not.* Then, the parents need to work with that same therapist to learn parenting skills specific to their child’s issues-your “prescription” shows that you expect the child to fix him/herself with a minimum of effort on the part of the parents. Putting a CD on and expecting children who struggle with anxiety will derive instant benefit is incredibly naïve! The other thing _all parents need to do is to severely limit time on the computer for all of their children, because the constant flashing and noisy input causes children to experience overstimulation of their nervous systems without knowledge of how to reduce that overstimulation on their own._ Then, if these strategies don’t reduce significant anxiety, it would be time to discuss other strategies and to determine family constellations for mental illness and possible medical intervention. Rather than continuing to naïvely accept whatever you see on social media, the internet, and TV, *how about making a small effort to understand professional ethics and best practice standards which are in place for psychiatrists and clinical psychologists (APA - the American Psychological Association) and educational psychologists (NASP - the National Association for School Psychologists)?!?* The latter even has an entire section devoted to resources for parents to educate themselves about Best Practice guidelines to which all school psychologists must adhere. *The other thing you all need to do is to stop spreading misinformation on this subject whenever you get a chance!!*

Perhaps I'm prejudiced being a violinist, but I've always found Antonio Vivaldi's music a well spring of wonderful ideas. J. S. Bach admired his music enough to transcribe selections for his own use, and therein hangs a tale. Bach's music had been forgotten by the 19th century--except by discerning folks like Mozart (18th century) and Beethoven. Felix Mendelssohn revived Bach's music with a performance of the ST. MATHEW PASSION, and suddenly all of Germany had to rediscover Bach, hunting copies everywhere. They ran across his transcriptions of Vivaldi, and went, "Vivaldi who?" He'd been forgotten, too. So two composers were rediscovered, but then they faced the awful truth: Could their great German composer have been influenced by a mere Italian? Of course he was, but this led to some controversy and hard feelings on both sides.

Every master composer was influenced by previous master composers, in addition to influences they added their own harmonies, and instrumental coloring, orchestrations and in J.S. Bach case he added rich counterpoints, it takes a master mind to become a master composer.
@alaaobaid33635 ай бұрын
@@marymm7439Exactly, and also, let's not forget that complicated compositions are not necessarily superior to simple harmonics and melodies, Vivaldi (although being well-versed in counterpoint) did not highlight fugues in his compositions, at least not as much as Bach, instead, his main focus was on harmony and simplicity, and I think it has to do with being a teacher at La Pieta... imagine how the world would have changed if Vivaldi and Bach met each other!!

...Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (4 March 1678 - 28 July 1741) was an Italian Baroque musical composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher, and priest. Born in Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic, he is regarded as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. He composed many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than forty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as the Four Seasons. Many of his compositions were written for the all-female music ensemble of the Ospedale della Pietà, a home for abandoned children. Vivaldi had worked there as a Catholic priest for 1 1/2 years and was employed there from 1703 to 1715 and from 1723 to 1740. Vivaldi also had some success with expensive stagings of his operas in Venice, Mantua and Vienna. After meeting the Emperor Charles VI, Vivaldi moved to Vienna, hoping for royal support. However, the Emperor died soon after Vivaldi's arrival, and Vivaldi himself died, in poverty, less than a year later.
