this captain over complicates things so much all he needs to do is throw a spoon or meat rig down with a flasher/dodger that's it. You dont need 100 different colors and scents. The fish are eating bait thats simply silver and shiny.

Jason Nester --- so you don't understand why they are wearing gloves,well let me help you. Salmon and trout have a incredible sense of smell. It takes very little bad scent ( like human scent for example) to make a salmon to not take you're lure. So you might say just wash your hands. Well sure enough even with the gloves you still wash your hands ( with the gloves still on ) that way you don't wash off the protective oils on your skin. Otherwise, if you fish a lot with no protective oils protecting your skin your hands will start to look like raw hamburger. Hope that helps.

Victor Benner I’ve fished for steelhead for 15 years never wore gloves caughts hundreds of fish using bare hands never been an issue

Hey again. I don't know you but my guess is that your not fishing as much as a professional guide. Or one of the top pikeminnow bounty fisherman. Lime I said, it helps protects your hands. Before these essentially professional fisherman started to use the gloves ( by the way nowadays we mostly use nitrile gloves,not latex, but thats another thing ) As a added benefit in the winter and spring months they can help keep you're hands warmer PLUS protect your hanhs from getting colored up from some of the cures. Lastly, it sounds like you know how to catch some fish. But have you ever wondered how many fish you haven't caught but maybe should have. I do not say this to insult you, I really don't. Its something all good fisherman should ask of themselves. Could i get better? And please remember you did ask why some people wore gloves. I was responding to your question. I'm wondering if you have ever tried nitrile gloves. If you are ever interested, I recommend going to Harbour freight. Great prices, a great variety of sizes and thicknesses. Victor Benner I’m not offended nor trying to Offended you for sure gave me valid answers in here in the Great Lakes region for Salmon n steelhead I fish pretty much every day I’m also the town taxidermist and guide some I tried the gloves one time I lost dexterity while trying to Tie on terminal tackle And leaders but I have not totally thrown away the idea thanks for reply good luck be safe and catch some hammers

This is a local guide boat. We get lots of tourist people who have never fished or fished for Salmon. Especially on the Columbia River . The same is true on the Oregon and Washington coastal fisheries.

@@michaelpilot1000 I am a local. The guide is not. ( Not hating on it. Just fact) the folks on this show all work in the fishing industry. They seem like good guys though for sure. If you're trying to sell fishing gear people need to trust that you know what you're doing. Might instill more confidence in consumers.

Don't fish with any of Macks lure trolling rigs. Especially around any type of kelp or fresh water milfoil. your day will be ruinded
