Protecting the continent of Europe from Russia is far cheaper than having Russia dismantled democratic countries that faced threats to their sovereignty in WWII. ​@@kurtphillythat is not completely accurate. I know someone getting SSI right now in their 50s because they don't qualify for SSD due to not working the past 5 years before applying. This same person refused to work most of their life and every time they did work they quit the second child and family services took money from their check for child support. They maybe paid into the system 10-15 years if that. My mom paid into it for 35-40 (she was a nurses aid at a nursing home for 20+ years making over 20 an hour so it was more paid in than this person and before that she worked since she was 16 in various jobs) and they are getting more $ than my mom. The sad part is this person fought for this for years when they were still able to work because someone told them they didn't have to work and could get this. In fact I have met people just like them with their ailments and or worse that work now. The point is there are loopholes to the system where people can get it early instead of SSD and for them it is not based on their past income or what was put in because if it had been this person should not be getting that amount over someone else who put more into the system. This is why it will be bankrupt in a few years because people are getting away with this. I can also tell you there are countless others who are doing the same.
