@slmx0sm8 жыл бұрын
marykacyy yes there absolutely are more natural products to switch out in our daily process, whether it be makeup, shampoo, cleansers, clothing. But unfortunately due to the lack of in depth knowledge and findings on how chemicals truly affect us. Going the more "natural" route is more expensive then just using water and baking sofa. Or using vinegar and water as a home cleanser. These may seem drastic to many but when you really look into the affects of the chemicals we are in contact with daily and the cost of being more environmentally friendly when purchasing healthier options it may be overly costly for a family of 5+ when using more simple everyday products work almost as effectively and are a lot more cost efficient for many households.

Stephanie _ I used to think so myself that I cant afford something safe and get my family of 5 through the month. I found some products on amazon and did more research on sites like ewg.org. I found a soap thats non toxic cheap and can be used for handsoap to cleaning floors. The best part is my sons bloody noses (I thought was from allergies due season) stopped completely. There are cheaper and safer products out there that work well but it does take time to research.

Yvonne Hullo Baking soda acts like soap. Try washing your hair with it and you'll see. The reason I don't use baking soda anymore is because it upsets the ph of your scalp and is very hard to rinse out completely which can cause dandruff and itching. Also, baking soda is very abrasive to your hair shaft. There are other ways to clean your hair without chemicals that are better for your scalp health.

Have you tried using warm-hot (not boiling hot, just on the hotter side of warm) water to water-wash your hair and slide the oil down to condition your hair? There was a point when my hair started getting really oily and I had to wash it more frequently. I did this and my hair was fine so I went back to water washing/co-washing/mud washing once a week (or water washing more frequently, if needed) and shampoo washing once a month. Oh! And the mud wash is good for minimising oiliness. If you're in the States, look for the lavender Terressentials mud wash (if you're in the UK, like I am, don't bother unless you're willing to pay a lot in duty/import charges). A cheaper option is to buy bentonite, rhassoul or amla powder, mix it with a bit of water to form a light paste/mud (and add essential oils if you want a scent/a bit of conditioner) and work that into your hair then leave it on for like 5mins (no need to cover your hair) before rinsing it out. This leaves my hair shiny and soft (and my curls look amazing), but not oily.

@nappybunny82218 жыл бұрын
An Elephant As far as actual cleanliness, not really. The dermatologist in the video who looked at her scalp under the microscope proved this. If you look at the labels carefully, even conditioners have a lot of the same detergent ingredients that make your hair 'clean', hence the rapidly growing market of conditioning cleansers like Wen that acheive the same cleanliness without the harmful sulfates that strip our hair of the natural protective oils, thus drying it out and making your body's oil production overcompensate.
@nappybunny82218 жыл бұрын
An Elephant Everyone's hair is different, dear. Don't speak for me or anyone else for that matter. Sure, maybe YOU can personally see a difference in your hair, but I'm sure yours is the only head you wash. And, if you 'dont't care' so much, maybe try not being so contrary like you know everything about the topic. M'Kay? :) Muting your responses now, because I'm absolutely sure any rebuttal you could possibly offer will sound foolish.

Never used a hairbrush used her fingers or a very thin tiny comb. She had all kinds of barrels around that house that caught the rain. She used only that to wash her hair in. I just use Marseille soap to wash my hair, no chemicals and no perfume. I started to use medical soap as well for my body, because I started to get inflamed pimples all over my body. Very often they bacame seriously infected with puss. Cosmetic products destroy the natural chemical balance of your skin, and may harm your health.

Because of being really sick from colon cancer and Crohn's disease (which included having an ileostomy bag 4 separate times) I wasn't able to shower often, as I wasn't allowed to get my wounds or dressings wet, and I was so grossed out by it. BUT, after a few years of showering only once or twice a week (I did use deodorant and wash what I was able to every day, using only water on my scalp as I've lost most of my hair), I noticed that I didn't stink, and all my blemishes vanished on their own. It was really weird, and now that I can sower daily, I've also stopped using products with a ton a chemicals, preferring only very basic things like baking soda. I have no issues at all, with BO, and my skin is actually in better shape then it was when I used all those products on the market, so I think there is some real benefit to what is said in this clip. I know you're probably all cringing, but honestly, the human body is a remarkable thing, and is able, with just basic hygiene, to get along just fine without all the soaps and shampoos on the market.

Shampoo strips your hair of everything. I had been using shampoo my whole life and my hair over produced oils because of it. I have stopped using shampoo and my hair is no longer oily. Also my scalp becomes extremely itchy with shampoo. Now my scalp is only itchy if it is so hot it sweats. These problems occurred with many types of shampoo and with different washing regimes. I agree the use of the word chemicals is silly but for me the stoppage of the use of shampoo, letting my scalp do the work it was designed to, was the only way I got any relief from my hair problems. Added bonus; if you dye your hair the colour stays fresher longer because there isnt shampoo trying to strip your hair of that also.
@snatched.81358 жыл бұрын
Iri tiri If you dye your hair.... doesn't that defeat the purpose of going chemical free?
@roflmaokb8 жыл бұрын
No, it wouldn't, if you read it a bit closer you will see my point wasn't to be chemical free. Shampoo effects the pH balance of my scalp> causing all these symptoms> it wasn't until I stopped using shampoo that I got relief from those symptoms. The dying of the hair thing was just a bonus if one were to dye their hair> I'll admit I havent in a while> but to reset the scalps ph balance after dying hair [if needed] wouldnt be a big deal> just wait a day or two. But to be "chemical free"> Don't have the money for that to be on my radar :P

You need to find your own mixture amount of baking soda [1-2Tbl sp to 1/4 cup] with water [I used an old soda bottle- not filled usually, depends on how coarse I want the mixture- for somewhat regular use I would use a lighter mixture, closer to the 1-2 tblspoon size] and [separately only like once a week, vinegar to water 1/4 cup to a separate soda bottle, ghetto I know.] Rinse well..

Everything is made up of chemicals... baking soda is made from chemicals, water is chemical H2O... but anyway I use to over wash my hair and I would always have dead ends if I tried growing out my hair so now I only shampoo once every 10 days or so and my hair has been growing better since doing so. Also taking biotin is great for your hair and nails, also make Prenadal for women is good to use for fair and nails because of the folic acid. Wish I had known earlier in life.

Because my hair is naturally dry I decided to try this trend of shampooing less. I would only wash my hair once a week, and with a sulfate-free Shampoo (L'oréal) . I did this for a couple years. At first my hair looked awesome! It was smoother, and was easier to straighten, and shiny. I had Kate Middleton hair! But after a couple years of beautiful hair, my hair started falling out, to the point where I was scared to brush it (so I rarely did) I then read that not washing your hair at least every couple days (for people with fine hair like mine) can cause the pores in the scalp to clog up, make the hair dull and weak and break easily (which causes hair loss). So I started shampooing more often, forced myself to brush more often, and switched shampoos to a Shampoo with sulfate( I no longer trust sulfate-free shampoos). My hair is growing out thicker and faster now. So choose what's best for YOUR hair! Don't give in to trends.
@jennifernorth2918 жыл бұрын
That's complete bullshit... there's no fucking way your hair loss was linked in any way, shape, or form to the fact that you only washed it once a week. Or obviously the girl in this video would be fucking bald. And clogged pores on your scalp could have been easily remedied by rinsing it with a cup or two of all natural apple cider vinegar (and then water) once a week (it also makes your hair super shiny and prevents/gets rid of dandruff). And its certainly not a 'trend' to the thousands or millions of people who realize hundreds of years ago people got by just fine without slathering themselves with cancer-causing chemicals every single day and would rather not be a human guinea pig to the literally HUNDREDS of new chemicals that are introduced to the global market every single day with literally not one iota of saftey testing...do some research.

Gosh, she could make her own shampoo and conditioner that's all natural. I make all my own soap and beauty products for a few years. The one main chemical I ever use is lye when making homemade luxury soaps and shampoo, which the lye dissipates within 48 hours of mixing in with the oils and Shea butter. I make a full Himalayan salt bar as well. One of my favorites is a coffee emulsified scrub made with Castile soap, jojoba oil and beeswax. I'm allergic to many man made products, so I make my own and love it. Baking soda is not enough to wash hair in my opinion. I like clean hair.

Aeolin Ice - As an audience you shouldn't take other peoples word for it. If you want to know what it smells like then smell it in person when appropriate. That lady didn't have to smell it in the middle of the show. It's funny to me how you said the audience wants to know how it smells like and letting another human smell it will make them smell it too. Everyone is different and those kinds of things are subjective.

+SB Real, Idk, I think it was good to have at least someone smell her hair and have an opinion. (We got two opinions about it.) It's not really needing to know exactly how her hair smells to us specifically, but having at least one opinion gives you the general idea of how it probably comes across. If I was the girl with that hair, I wouldn't have minded it and probably would've expected that someone would probably want to smell my hair on camera and share their opinion of it. The topic was about the condition of her scalp and how clean her hair was, people are going to be curious, it helps to know how her hair probably smells like to people that's not part of her family or friend network.

More like only 70+ years ago thru didn't have shampoo. my grandma tells me all the time back in the 30's and 40's they used vinegar and even rinsed with beer at times. Have you seen how gorgeous those women were in the 40's? Shampoo strips your scalp of it's natural oils. The 1st week you stop washing your hair as often it will be greasy, but that is only because your scalp has had to make extra oils to replace what you keep stripping away with chemicals you don't need. after the 1st week your scalp won't secrete as much oils and it will go back to normal. Coconut oil, vinegar work wonders on your hair.

The movement is called "No poo" (no shampoo) look for it on youtube. I don't use shampoo on my hair. I use vinegar and mouthwash in a spray bottle. My hair is doing great, it's soft and curly and the natural oils moisturize the hair. After washing my hair smells a bit like wet wool, once dried the smell disappears. I used to put so much product to moisturize my hair after shampooing 'cause it would be so dry. The funny thing is, now my hair looks like I put a bunch of products to achieve this silken look.

Then, once I've rinsed that out, I use 1 conditioner..., rinse out that first one, then I use a 2nd conditioner. I have beautiful, sexy, long, hair..., and I get tons of compliments. People, trust me. One morning, just shower, and only use only conditioners (no shampoos). Your hair will become soft, healthy looking, more manageable..., no more tangles, no split ends. if you are going to try this, be aware that for the first month or so, your hair will be extremely greasy. but if you hold out long enough, it will regulate itself (remember it's been used to having chemicals etc on it and not using its own self-cleaning and self-smoothing abilities...so it will take a bit for it to regulate and return to the function it was created to do on its own). after it regulates, your hair will be beautiful!

Isn't she concerned at all about getting headlice or other scalp diseases and disorders? She has a Child and if that Child is in Daycare or School, the child CAN get headlice and other scalp diseases. Also theres a scare of cockroaches and bedbugs and YES you CAN get them in the hair to. Children often can unfortunately share hats and clothing, share hair brushes, combs and hair accessories(ect) and this can cause all these issues mentioned above. If this Womans Child was in the same classroom as my Child and I found out that this woman is not giving this child daily baths and not washing their hair at all, honestly, I would NOT allow that child anywhere near my child because I don't want my child to bring home any critters or other thilth that can cause diseases....ESPECIALLY BEDBUGS, HEADLICE AND COCKROACHES!!!!!!! Thank God I don't know her personally. Thank God she doesn't live in my neighborhood or go to my Church or our Kids are going to the same School because I can only imagine what kind of shape her house is in( probably nasty and in hoarders like condition) all because she has a ridiculous fear of chemicals in cleaning supplies and she probably doesn't do laundry because laundry soap has chemicals. If She lived near me and my kid KNOWING she lived like that and finding out she's passing the thilth and bugs to anyone else, I would of called C.P.S. on her faster than anyone else could say MISSISSIPPI. Im sure that the Teachers at School would not tolerate this either and neither would other Parents.
