Draw Near to God: The Reality - Tim Conway

What could be more satisfying than having God draw near to you? But If you want God to draw near to you, you first need to believe that God drawing near is an actual reality and not just a theory. Do you really believe that if you draw near to God that He'll draw near to you?

Not that I want to theologically systematize that verse from James, but God when He gave us the Spirit of Christ, in there is the will/need to draw near to God. Scripture in this regard is God explaining the contents of what we have recieved. “What is this uneasynes that I am feeling? Kind of an emptyness”, God answers in scripture: “you need more of Me”.

Pastor Tim, by "used to have", did you imply that you have thrown away your Gill's Exposition of the entire Bible? :) In my opinion, John Gill is simply unparalleled in his knowledge of Hebrew and Jewish lore, and Greek, etc... nothing short of a tremendous scholar, and he often picks up relationships between different texts that other expositors miss (I still consult it--would you recommend that I no longer do that?). Spurgeon is different in his own way of course.

They are (as I am), but he's warning against hyper-calvinism rather than the 5 points of calvinism
