Drawer System & Sleeping Platform Build - 4th Gen 4Runner

Just emulated your design for my 4th gen. Took me about 6 hours to build. Still need to build the drawers and waiting for the slides. Thank you for detailing all this in the video. Main box is 41" wide by 36" deep by 10" tall. Used 3/4" birch plywood and glued together with 18 gauge brads. I also made the middle folding section 12". I made the bifolding part 48" wide to give a little extra space.

Hey man, I’m curious what the lengths of each of the pieces of your platform. Is it 36” for drawer platform, 12” for middle section? What is the last section’s length? I’m also aiming at a 48” wide design but am running into issues with the width when unfolding the platform. I end up hitting the curtain airbag columns. I’m aiming for a 6ft total length

Solid work bud, been looking for a simple but effective design for my 08 4Runner. Best part of ur design is if it needs to come out it would pretty simple, just loosen the turnbuckles and out she comes.

No worries! The drawer slides have worked great for me. I have a lot of gear in the drawers and they handle it well. The only thing I would do differently is to use locking drawer slides for the table. The table will slide out while I’m driving since it has normal sliders.

The one thing I wished I did was wrap the platform in a single piece of carpet. I used multiple pieces and it peeled up on the edge. Use one piece and wrap it fully around the edge. I also want to paint the drawers so I don’t have to worry about spilling food and staining it.

I didn’t keep track of the dimensions. Mine isn’t perfect either. I would recommend measuring for the platform with the seats in a comfortable position. Mine is a bit long so the seats have to be moved forward a little. Measure between the wheel wells for width and from the back of the front seats to the hatch for length.

Thank you! I did not weigh it but guess it weighs 60-70lbs. Could be less could be more. Haven’t removed it since I installed it

How are the female ends that the dowel rods screw into mounted into the platform?
