Catnap was separate from the others right in his design, all the other critters have proportional parts in comparison to their body, while Catnap has an absurdly larger tail in proportion to himself. This could also be a reference to his future physical appearance, being so large and slender when the other critters appear to have been smaller if we use Dogday as a comparison, and also the fact that Catnap suffered accidents and physical issues.

Interestingly, if you put the models of dogday and catnap next to each other they’re actually the same size, Dog day just looks smaller because he’s half the dog he was. (Lol, wish I could take credit for that joke) also I think the hallucination catnap is bigger.

To answer the question about rabbits in horror games- there are many reasons 1.) The juxtaposition of cute animal vs horror 2.) Recognizable no matter how stylized 3.) Watership down traumatized us all

I will also add that the first widely seen "evil rabbit" in media is from 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' with a regular looking albino rabbit that kills people almost instantly. (The white rabbit in 'PETS' from Illumination is definitely referencing that by making him an antagonist)

Honestly, I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the Smiling Critters as soon as I saw them. My favorites HAVE to be Bobby Bearhug, Hoppy Hopscotch, Dogday, Catnap, and Craftycorn!

I think rabbits have a very recognizable sillhouette, so theyre an easy pick for a character thats part of a group that all have the same body type (fnaf animatronics, smiling critters) because all you need to do is add those long ears and itll instantly read as rabbit

Craftycorn is the one mystical animal in a way to reffer to how she's creative and everything. I can't explain but I think you get the idea 12:10 I'm glad you kept his arms up since its a reference to when you find him in the game (not only there but also in the cartoon at the start hes shown with his arms up and his legs covered)

The reasons catnap was separate from the group:1. Due to his keychain catnap appears mostly at night. 2. Catnap kept worshipping the prototype, a hand that killed most characters in chapter 2, And on his bio he said "the prototype will save us all" before the prototype killed him and made him a part of it to make it stronger.

If I was a child again and my mom let me pick one SC toy before we left the store I would pick Dog Day. His design is the best in my opinion: I love his color pallet, his spots give him some asymmetry that make him stand out, Vanilla is favorite flavor of ice cream growing up and I always loved leader characters. If we went back and I got to pick another one it would be between Crafty Corn, because she’s a creative-artsy kid Unicorn, or Catnap because he’s and introvert who is just vibing with his friends.

fun fact!: it might be obvious but it was told by mob entertainment that their inspo for the smiling critters was my little pony and care bears! and abt the rabbits in horror games, they are usually cute creatures and creating and illusion just like in fnaf with spring bonnie or just bonnie in general, they capture an image in children's heads since they are one of the most gentle animals that it would seem that they would be cute to the children but in horror games they are just very common for that reason! (hope that helps!)

On your comment of why so many rabbits I'm horror games, when I think of a rabbit I think they're very cautious and fearful. Always alert(more in the case of a wild rabbit) and they have to be because they can be prey. And then in these horror games they're the opposite. I think there's something about that.
