Drawing American Kestrels in Coloured Pencil & Watercolor Pencil | Realistic Bird of Prey Drawing

Here is a new video showing clips of my 'American Kestrels' drawing coming to life.
This drawing was recently part of a gallery exhibition in Portland (Oregon, USA) called ‘Fractured Aviary’ which was curated by Antler Gallery and Yale University to raise awareness of the birds whose lives are affected by the tragedy of window strikes. I created this drawing to symbolise not only the sad loss of such beautiful birds but also the tragedy felt by dependant partners and juveniles who are left behind to struggle.

This is stunningly beautiful. I was mesmerised watching this creation come to life (and I really do mean come to life) as these birds look like they are going to fly off from the paper any second. How long did it actually take to complete this masterpiece ?

What can I say Claire, superb, superb, superb. One question if I may, when I observe you using a cotton bud are you using dry or with mineral spirit. ?

Hi Graham, thank you so much for your kind words. I use a touch of water with the cotton bud I never use mineral spirits. I use a mixture of watercolour pencils and dry coloured pencils so a touch of water is all that is needed ☺️
