Drawing crease patterns made easy

If you're looking to design origami, being able to draw crease patterns is crucial. Oriedita is generally considered the best software for drawing crease patterns to date. It may take some getting used to, but this video will walk you throw from installation to export everything you need to know to start drawing crease patterns like a pro.

I need to make crease patterns for pentagons not squares. Will this program accommodate that need? If not, what other available programs would do this? I can use the simple Draw program on MS Word to do square or hexagonal CPs but their pentagon is not accurate. OrigamiDraw is fine with squares and octagons but nothing else. Paint shop pro also draws faulty pentagons. Can anyone help?

Yes, there's a tool on the right toolbar with a pentagon icon, that will draw any regular polygon (by default is actually set to pentagons)

Is there a way to start with 1:2 or 1:3 ratio rectangle instead of a square?

Yes, delete the boundaries of the square just like any other crease, and redraw the boundaries how you like using the "E" line type (next to M and V)

Go to the bottom right, find the number 90 and change it to 60, then click S or press enter. In the most recent version, there's another button around there called "draw diagonal lines" which will complete the triangle grid.
