That wide pencil lead is created by sanding the pencil lead on a piece of fine sandpaper on the angle you naturally hold the pencil to draw. That creates a flat chisel surface.

Thank you for that info. I thought I was going to have to buy another something. I was considering a flat carpenter pencil. It won't roll off the table at least. Little story. I was surfing Rosemary Brush just to see what was there. Saw a thing on how to clean brushes. They said a good way was to basically use oil to get the paint out and then use Fairy Liquid to wash the oil out. Ohh Nooo another 10 or 15 dollar 2 oz bottle of something. Fairy Liquid! It sounds expensive! It turns out it is their equal to Dawn Dish Detergent. Whew I thought. It works.

Yes please! Your videos are so helpful Ian. As an advanced intermediate painter, certain aspects of the process, and results, have always been missing. It harkens back to learning to ski as a kid. Honestly, I feel like crying. You fill in those missing parts that have eluded me for years. Thank you, thank you.
