I think that people don’t talk about these techniques nearly enough as somebody who has been trying to break into art and seeing people skip over the importance of lines infuriates me. It took me a long time to find this video and thankfully I did because this is a amazing explanation.

To see your process in systematic detail is very useful, again. Thank you!

Thanks Planta. It’s fundamentally the same process whether a simple or complex subject. 😀

The site changed to subscription after my course was added. My course will be available through my website in a few months. 😀

Hi thank you for this video. When looking at other artists some are able to draw a straight line easily in every direction without turning the paper. I practiced this method but find it too difficult. Your method turning the paper in the direction in which it feels easy to draw a straight line works better for me. But it feels a little bit too easy seeing other people draw straight lines in any direction without turning the paper. What is you opinion about that please? Thanks!

Do whatever suits you! There is no greater virtue in turning or not turning the paper. I’ve had to stop turning it because I’m videoing all the time. But my freehand drawings suffer a little because of it. But if you want to develop that skill, work at it and you will improve. There are no rules, but there are both things we prefer, and things which get us to a desired end place more effectively. However, we also want to feel freedom when we draw😀

Could you please please please do a tutorial on arcs in perspective? I tried to draw a cloister and I just can’t do it right! Thanks!

I have already Maria. It's called Curves and Perspective. It's one of my first teaching videos, so scroll back along way and you should find it. :)

Thanks Jahanzeb. A complex drawing is made up of lots of comparatively simple elements. Working on the basics always rewards. All the best. 😀
