Really nice to see a different approach to using these. And some great commentary on their uses, as well as a comparison to other similar products. Would love to see more crayon and/or oil pastel drawings/paintings.

Thank you so much for doing this video. Now I have so many more ideas on how to use my crayons. The first time I used them I did accidentally sharpened them. I saved the precious shavings in plastic jewelry bead containers. I added a little mineral spirits to it and it worked like a paint. I did an entire picture, but with the other colors I needed I just dipped my brush into the mineral spirits touched it to the crayon and then used it as”paint” for my picture. Again, thank you kindly for the video 😊

@@karinberonius8799 When I first sharpened them a lot of shavings came off and I did not want them to go to waste. I put them in those little sealed plastic bead containers and depending on how much odorless mineral spirits I added it was either more opaque or more translucent. Went on beautifully smoothly with a paint brush.. I know that it’s not the intended way to use them so that is why I’m glad Leslie showed us the proper way. But it’s always good to know more than one way to use things so as not to go to waste 😊

Fantastic! I was thinking of ordering a reptile heating pad, or seed starter pad, but I think I will dig out my own heating pad first and try with a clipboard

The heating pad/clipboard worked very well with my Prismacolors and my Polychromos too. And Amazon had a very decent price on those Neocolor I’s, unfortunately they found their way into my cart…

Thank you for this demo! Never would have thought to use my Prismacolors with these, nor blend them out with Gamsol or other solvent. Will have to give it a go with the set I received as a gift some years ago.

Your cherries and leaves are absolutely gorgeous. I'd forgotten how large cherry tree leaves are - haven't had a cherry tree since I was a kid. The crayons really look like something I'd enjoy. I don't know why but I was thinking about your antique door that you did with pastels, wondering how well you could paint/mix rust and patina with these crayons. (By the way, I forgot to vote for a watercolor of that door - yes, please! I'd love to see your interpretation of the door in watercolor!😊)

Oh my goodness, and I adore just playing with crayons! Most definitely must have these. Here I thought I had all the media. LOL. You are very fun to watch, also. So that mat idea is a good one, I will check it out. Thank you. I think most of what I have learned over the years about media is from your videos.

Having had these crayons for a long time but never really using them I tried your idea of a heating pad. It didn’t work with a clipboard but it did work beautifully with a thin cookie sheet. That transferred the heat beautifully while not becoming too hot. Mine was Teflon and it did not scratch it, but it could always be turned upside down if needed.

I prefer peeling off the paper and breaking them in half. Then draw more like a pastel or charcoal. Makes the stick different than a pencil.

I love the idea of working on a heated surface and was not familiar with that before watching this video. The heated foot mats are more than I'd like to spend - $40+ on Amazon. I did find heated seedling mats for as little as $11 on Amazon. The surface is smooth, but not hard, so I don't know how well it would work for drawing. Anyone tried something similar?
