I know it's not exactly a tangible present, but I think the best gift I've ever received was the opportunity to go to college from my mother. I live in the United States so college tuition can be very expensive, and I have a chronic illness that makes it hard to stand for very long periods of time so working isn't always easy. But I'm so beyond grateful for my mother and just how hard she works to be able to give me the gift and privilege of higher education. I can without a doubt say that the opportunity she has provided for me is the best gift I've ever been given. You've been my favorite artist for years now and seeing your work and videos pop up on my feed always brightens my day! The best present I've received was my first sketchbook, from my brother. It was during the first year of the pandemic, everybody stuck in their own homes and I started to draw as hobby, in some old paper I found at home. I always tell my brother about the things I like to do or started doing, and he always supported me in my decisions. About a month after a told him about the drawings, he bought me a big sketchbook and some drawing pencils. The sketchbook it's already finished, but I still use what's left from his pencils and never stopped drawing till this day.

My best present would be an easel I got from my parents. All the nights I would stay up holding up a canvas in order to paint and to add details and this present pushed me even more to pursue art and realized that I had my parents support and that they were cheering me on with art. 🖼️

Lovely work, as always. My best present was getting a trampoline when I was probably around 12. My parents always had a rule not to spend over a certain amount for birthday gifts, but they had made the exception when they bought me it. ❤ 20 years later and I still think of that time fondly.

I actually LOVE the marker textures you use! I almost never see people embrace marker texture; it's standard to blend the heck out of everything. But I also love ink drawings that use hatching to shade and show contour, so you've combined the best of both worlds here. I love, love, love your portraits! The best present that comes to mind is when I was in college. I wanted to go into archaeology, and I found out last-minute about a study abroad archaeology program near Pompeii. But I had to come up with the funding basically on the spot, and I and my parents were broke, and it was way past the deadline for any scholarships. I remember sitting outside my apartment in a funk, trying to figure out what to do. Then my sisters' grandma called. She'd always treated me like I was her own grandkid, but this was the moment that really drove it home how much she cared for me. She said she'd just given money to each of my sisters, one for a down payment for a car, and the other to replace her laptop for school that had just kicked the bucket. So she asked, "If I gave you $1,000, what would you use it for?" It was so serendipitous, I cried. Obviously it wasn't all the money I needed, but it made the trip possible. And that study abroad program was, I do not exaggerate, one of the best times of my life. My grandma gave me that amazing experience. I miss her quite a lot. 😢

My best present I’ve ever received is my first ever sketchbook. I didn’t like it at first because I was young and didn’t have any interest in drawing, but when I first put my pencil on the paper, I drew and eye and I fell in love. The best "present" I received isn't really a present but a best friend. After my childhood dog died, the house felt so lifeless, so empty. A few days before Christmas, my mom took me to the pet shelter so we could have a guardian and a new source of love and joy in our lives. There was this beautiful dog, a mix german shepherd, staring at me this whole time, trying to get as close as possible to me. And I still think to this day, he also adopted me on the spot. It has been 6 years now, and he is still my best present ever. I have a chronic illness, and when it gets really bad, he refuses to eat or go for a long walk so he can stay by my side ❤ I feel truly lucky. Best Christmas ever for both of us.

I had taken a break from large canvas painting due to starting grad school, so this gift helped me get back into art which was good for my mental health since grad school is so stressful. the best present i ever received was a waterproof digital camera i got years ago when i was still in middle school. i didn't use it for quite a few years, but when i realized that digital cameras were making a comeback, i brought it to school and i've been using it with my friends since. some of my favorite pictures and memories with my friends have been made with that camera, and i love being able to make memories and art with the people i love.

The best present I had ever received was my first watercolor palette from my mother. She knew how much I loved watercolor painting and the sketches I had always wanted to continue, but never got to painting them. I still use the same palette till this day as a junior in high school art classes. The connection it holds between me and mother really inspires me to continue in art! I was given a book for botanical illustration of plants for my MSc ceremony.😍🌿 I studied plant science at university and my family used to say I wasn’t smart enough to do it. I love painting and drawing, but I never showed my family because for them it was never good enough. And now I graduated, my family was not coming… however some of the teachers who have mentored me heard that and they came to the ceremony for me instead!❤ for me it was already a gift they wanted to come. But they brought one gift too. The book about painting plants with aquarel. It was mesmerising to me how they know me so well that they guessed I love aquarel although I never told them, how they went out of their way to combine my study in plants with my biggest passion in a present. The book is now also a reminder to me that, even if my family doesn’t, there are people out there who want to know and support and appreciate me. I think they never realised that it was the most perfect, amazing gift I have ever received🥹❤️

My best present was a small pack of glow-in-the-dark ceiling stars. When I was seven I had developed a fear of the dark but I was too proud to keep on a nightlight because I knew my siblings would make fun of me for it. My mom got me a bag of small stars that she helped me stick to my ceiling so when it got dark and I became afraid all I would have to do was look up. I still have the stars three moves and thirteen years later. No, I'm not still afraid of the dark but the stars are a constant reminder that my mom loves me and that even in the dark of the night you can find light.

The best present I received was a car. My great-aunt had two cars, and after commenting on their condition, she asked me to fix one. She gave me a set amount of money and I went off to improve the Bluebird. I made sure everything was good and presented it to her along with change, expecting praise. Instead, she gave me the keys and said thanks. Whatever you do, give it your all and it will pay off.

My best present was a mini sketchbook with the mona lisa painting as the cover and the paper inside had amazing slightly rough texture and a box of 12 coloured pencils that came with it. It was a birthday present when I was 18 from my uncle who knew i liked art and he wanted to give me something that i could draw in and with. I still use it today as I'm 19. I bring it with me a lot as its compact and I can use it anytime. Love it :>

The best present I ever received was tickets to watch the jazz legend Tony Bennett live. He has passed now and I’m so lucky to have seen one of the jazz masters in person. I was the youngest person at the concert for sure, and I cried so hard.

I think the best present I ever got was my first ever set of watercolors and copic markers. It was a random gift my mom brought home for me when she saw how much I'd been drawing with just mechanical pencils. It really changed the course of my life, and it's when I started seriously drawing and decided to become and artist. The worst was a birthday gift from my aunt. It was clear she'd just gone through the old scraps of things her kids didn't want anymore, and included things like half used crayons, a coloring book that was scribbled in, and even a t-shirt that was stained. They weren't hurting for money or anything like that, so it was clear that she just hadn't cared enough to get me a gift and didn't want to show up empty handed. It was the final nail in the coffin for me going no contact with her, especially since I was fifteen at the time. Coloring books and crayons weren't really my thing.

The best present I´ve ever received was this polypocket airplane. As a boy people always thought it was weird for me to play with dolls but my mom always saw it as a way to express my creativity. I know you said you're not the most familiar with markers, but boy I would never know. Those portaits are gorgeous! Glad youre back after the unfortunate tech-mishap. You're question is pretty great because it made me realize how many truly meaningful gifts I've received despite my family not having much. 💜 So hard to choose! But the best gift: a blue dress shirt, pants, and light sweater from my grandmothers friend. During a very difficult time in my life, when my siblings and I didn't have a lot, we went to visit out grandmother for the first time in over seven years. This family friend of hers invited us all to his yearly Christmas party - and as a surprise took my five siblings and I out to buy all new outfits for it (because he knew the home-drama we were coming from.) It's now my most treasured outfit, and Ive since worn that blue dress shirt to 2 weddings, a funeral, and several more Christmas parties. 😄 That gift really shaped the kind of person I'd like to be.

One of the best gifts I've ever been given was a guitar passed down from my great great grandma. I never knew her or met her, but I read about her in a book of my family history that she loved to sing/play songs for her family. My grandparents had this guitar in their garage and gave it to me for my birthday with new strings after finding out I knew how to play and sing. It sounds beautiful. It's really awesome knowing I feel the same joy from music and art that she did a long time ago and how that can connect you to people you may have never met before.

The best present I’ve ever received was this How to Draw Horses book that blew my mind when I was a little girl from my mom, who used to be an artist! Guess I had a horse girl phase, but I think it was because of their presence in Fantasy media and they’re wonderful animals. When I gave drawing horses ago with the book, it actually frustrated the hell out of me because horse anatomy was hard (still feel like it is lol) and gave up quite easily. I still kept the book and eventually came back to it for another try. Can’t say I’m a master, but it definitely taught me about the importance of failing and persevering through it 😊❤

I don't think I have a best or worst present. But I have two favourites. For my twelfth birthday, my nan (who had taken custody of my siblings and I) gave me a jar with flowers in it. At the bottom was twelve one dollar coins. I loved the flowers and even though $12 is not a lot of money my shiny magpie brain enjoyed getting the coins out from the bottom of the jar. My next favourite is a nightie and silky dressing gown, the nightie is blue with stars and the dressing gown is white with stars on it. The were given to me by my aunt and are still treasured to this day.

My best present or I guess presents were my first watercolor supplies. I was beginning to become an artist and it was then that coloring for me became my greatest strength. My worst present was not exactly the item but the event that happened. It was my birthday and at that time I and my family were going through a tough time with money. I knew this and wanted to help but my mom said it was an adult thing which she wasn't 100% wrong. She took me to a really expensive Italian restaurant. I saw her smile but I knew she couldn't hold in her tears. She broke down crying after we came back home. I never wanted to punch myself more in my entire life.

My best present is also a Wacom tablet! Back in the day I had huge troubles scanning my drawings as a teen and saw this amazing device that let me draw on computer "directly" which was just so cool. The worst gift I got... Worst... all gifts are fun to get!! So there's no worst. On the other hand, the best presents I've gotten are mostly things I've picked out myself-as a family, that's what my parents di for my birthday, we go to a mall or browse online and I pick stuff out! My worst present was the trip to Istanbul I got for my 30 birthday which I couldn't do because I was highly pregnant at that time and there were some bomb attacks. My parents said I would get something else, which I didn't. After that, they never bought a birthday present again. Often not even called or wrote me so it feels always like that present was the reason why everything broke apart even when I know it wasn't that. But still it is connected for me emotionally which makes it to my worst present ever. My best present was a beautiful oil painting of a castle in Ireland where my husband asked me to marry him. The oil painting was a wedding gift from a friend, which sadly died. It hangs in our living room and was such a special gift for both of us. I'm so happy that we have this very special gift from him.

The best gifts I have received are my best friends. They are the best gifts. Ok, I also recently received a handmade leather bound art journal that one of my besties made for me for my birthday. I was so surprised. I wasn't expecting it. It's beautiful. The leather cover is lined with scottish ornate handprinted paper, filled with Saunders Waterford watercolour coldpressed paper, and has an eco hand died rustic silk strap. It meant a lot to me. Pretty awesome gift.

So glad to see you back with a video😁 and amazing portraits. The best gift I got was a Mijello Mission Gold Watercolor Set 36 tubes with a blue palette from my husband. I asked for a 24 Pan set with a rose gold palette Mijello Mission Gold, but he got the 36 tube set because was less expensive and I love it. It was so fun filling the empty pans in the palette as I was new to watercolors. Now the palette is mixed in with different watercolor brands.

Finally he is back!!! My best present was my ipad. It was during 2020 so really helped me with my college work and even now with studies and a bit of art. My worst present ( well not kinda worst, but the feeling associated with it) it was my birthday and everyone forgot it was my birthday and by that time it was a theme with my friends to forget about me and to make up for it they got me a soft toy. It started to remind me of being not in a good friend circle so I gave it to a mother who used to clean rooms in my hostel for her kid. She liked it.

I believe the best present I got was a whole lot of art supplies from a friend of mine got for me. Markers, watercolors, pastels, acrilics, and she even made me a custom sketchbook. That reminds me that I gotta get back to practice drawing 👀 and seeing your amazing art also really boosts my drive to want to learn more and get better at it

My best present was a graduation one from my art teacher was just all of her materials because she was leaving the country and couldn't take a lot of it with her. That was lovely, but the note she gave me made it so much better; it contained her information and a letter expressing how much she wanted to see me develop as an artist and explore the art I wanted to but couldn't for reasons. That note has been my source of motivation for years now I keep it above my desk and look at it when I'm having a bad day or when I'm feeling down. i don’t think I’ve had a bad present maybe those horrible cheap watersoluble markers but the person who gave it to me had good intent so i find love in those too

I'm so glad you are back! That's really rough about your hardware. Way to get back on the wagon and keep going. The best present I ever received was making a stained glass box with my dad when I was a kid. He does stained glass work and as a present he let me design my own box, pick out the glass panes and make the box with him - even using all the equipment like a glass cutter and solderer under his supervision. I still have the glass box, but also really great memories. The worst present was a souvenir bracelet a friend brought back from their trip with the name of the place it was from on it. I appreciated the thought, but I hadn't been to the place so it had no significance for me and the bracelet really wasn't my style. I kept that bracelet way longer than I want to admit out of fear she'd ask about it. :P

The best present that I ever got was from a friend. One random day I told her that when I was a child I wanted those sticky stars that glow in the dark that you can paste in your walls and ceiling, but I never got em because my parents didn’t like when something had to be pasted to the wall. For my birthday she gave me the stars and I was so excited, jumping like a little kid, I felt so happy, and loved because she remembered that little detail about me🤩❤️‍🩹🥹

hello! loved the video, and oh, it's good to have you back here! My best present was also a wacon tablet, my very first one, I was 21, and my father gave it to me (he always encouraged me to paint and draw) on christmas eve.. A few months later he passed away, I remember a wacon was not cheap here in Brazil and my family didn't have a lot of money, so despite the model of the tablet being so old, I treasure it still.
