For me drawing from observation can be really therapeutic because I don't have to think about what to draw. When I doodle I tend to get bored before I'm done and then I don't like the doodle. I can draw from imagination, but only if I already have a good image in my mind. Never really like how it looks when I just try to place lines haphazardly or automatically hoping to be inspired or for it to look like something. You have unbelievable patience for doodling.

2:20 no lie I really felt that one😂 I see it as you have your own personal safe space...but you get sucked right out of there and shown to the whole word. You feel like some kind of painting everybody is judging admiring and observing. Some people love it and some people hate it. But you still feel forced to put on a fake smile in fear of others thinking something is wrong with you. No matter how much you wanna stay in your safe space alone and care free. You can’t.

How does one overcome what we may have been taught as kids not to waste paper or ink or supplies. It is a real deterrent to art to have in the back of your mind that every line must be right. Seeing you go thru a stack of PostIts triggers that feeling that makes me go around turning off lights and turning down the heat. I have this block of Arches paper I can’t bring myself to use.
@alexisordinary6 жыл бұрын
Just do it, honestly. The only way to overcome such fears/obsessions is to dive in deep. It's there for you to use it so just go ahead and use it.
@saintt90445 жыл бұрын
Year late, but this has been haunting me lately. This may not help everyone but I think of it this way: those supplies you don’t want to waste are already garbage in a sense. Raw materials have been harvested and processed to make them, mostly on a massive scale. They’re not special, they just exist now. If you bought them or they were given to you, that’s it. Your only responsibility now is to keep them, or dispose/recycle them responsibly. So why not use them and make it worthwhile that these raw materials were used up? It’ll make you happier that you did. It’s more of a “waste” to let them sit and loose out on the items and yours potential

I didn't realize it until I read this, but I do the same thing. I too have an unused pad of Archers paper.
@mothmaiden44134 жыл бұрын
Find really cheap supplies to start. Maybe a really old pad of paper or some supplies you already have. Maybe use a broken pen or something you find in a junk drawer. Then go. Let out your pent up emotions. If you're feeling worried about wasting supplies. Project it onto your art. The more you do it, the easier it will be to "waste materials"

🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹An italian writer that we study at school wrote a book describing EXACTLY this moment, a man that in his head and all his messy thougths hear far away a train whistle and that sound bring him concious. It's called "Il treno ha fischiato" by Luigi Pirandello

This guy is an absolute gem. He talks to you on a subconscious level somehow. He makes me think (and I mean this as a compliment) of a grown-up Gene from Bob’s Burgers. Amazing.

I hope people realize the brilliance of this man. He is like a modern day Mr. Rogers for people of any age from 3 to 103. True genius is being able to make yourself understood by any person of any age, gender, race, social status, IQ, educational level, or religion. This and part one should be part of any scool program, therapy program, television program. It can benefit ANYONE. He makes a lasting impression on you, and it is so important for everyone to realize we are all ok no matter what our feelings are. This drawing can be a most effective outlet for any feeling....even no feelings at all. Thank you, Peter. Everyone, please pass this on!
