I've been getting Upcrate since their second box, I'm often surprised by the volume of stuff in them. It's worth noting that Upcrate are about to eliminate the book (making it online only) because of increase in shipping costs and stuff. Several times we've been sent full on sketchbooks (not just stapled either, we've had a casebound from leuchtturm). On the topic of them not including pencils and the vital supplies every time, we've had a couple of stickers referencing that they listened to feedback and say stuff like "We heard you, no more pencils". And as someone who's had an art subscription for a few years now, I have a LOT of pencils. (to the point where I've been giving some away to neighbour's kids as well as the supplies I don't feel like I will use again.) So I appreciate them trusting that we already have the supplies! It's been a lot of fun getting all of them as they include more European supplies that even here in the UK we don't see often (eg I've never seen Lukas watercolours until I got some in upcrate, and I loved how they reacted so I've bought more colours). It's certainly been a lot of fun experimenting with the supplies the last few years and I think they kept me sane when I was stuck home during lockdown and I hope once summer's done and I have more time I'll be able to go back to arting with them more. I'm very glad they sponsored you, and I hope they'll keep sending you boxes. Your artwork was lovely, and I hope you keep enjoying the supplies.

I view my subscription boxes as my monthly treat to myself, where I can (usually - not right now as I'm both doing a lot of travelling for work, prepping for a convention and trying to do my university work all at the same time) sit down and just have some me time to be creative. We even had one month where I think they got a bad reaction to one of the supplies. They sent out a 12 pc set of spectrum noir colour pencils and I don't know if the reaction via feedback was bad or whether the unboxings were coming back with bad feedback and in the next box we got a bonus 'sorry' pack from spectrum with a sample set of their markers. Not great pencils and not helped by the fact they suffered in shipping either. At the time I was looking for a good set of colour pencils too, and it very much steered me towards the Derwent side of the shopping aisle.

Do you think they are a better value than another subscription like scrawlrbox? I’m currently subscribed to them, and I’m really enjoying it but like you said it’s a lot of pencils and rubbers that are slowly collecting…I really like the look of the boxes seen but I’m not sure if it worth to change, any thoughts? I'm a digital artist but the way you create traditionally is always so inspiring! I love hearing you talk through your ideas and thought processes. And your art style is always so cute and unique and so very you. You can stretch it and do so many things and always still looks like its yours. The box you said was your favorite, the magic one, I could imagine you drawing something like the art that was on the booklet and the print! Ooh, a Pentel Orenz! Such a fun pencil. The pipe slide mechanism actually doesn't SCRATCH the paper like other pipes on mechanical pencils (I think the edge of the pipe slide is rounded)

It's nice that there's a box in Europe with fast shipping! Living in the Netherlands and it's usually super expensive because os shipping costs and takes long to ship. 3 euros for shipping and 4-7 days is cheap and fast so ordered a subscription! Also because the value seems great als great mixture of supplies each month. Have used Scralwrbox before but not a big fan so curious to see how much I like this one!

these brushes, specially the ones that were made for watercolors, always have some wax in the bristles to hold them together. before using the brushes it's important to wash it until you feel there is no wax left to harden it, otherwise you can compromise the performance of the paint

I've been getting upcrate for almost 2 years now and honestly, I can't recommend it enough. I really enjoy all the info and tips and inspiration included in their magazines, and the supplies are always interesting. I've gotten a lot of really unique supplies, such as a whole box dedicated to lino printing which was really fun. Loved the art you ended up making with everything, and the unique swatching methods were fun to watch and super inspiring!

The Upcrate boxes really appeal to me. There is just so much good quality fun stuff in each box, and they're also very different from each other. I haven't seen anything in these six boxes that I wouldn't be eager to use. Idea for Upcrate: You could sponsor Rin to do an end-of-year illustration where she showcases all of the art supplies from that year. Not every single grey pencil or black pen, of course, and maybe not every colour of everything. But, you know, most of it. Something like that would provide an amazing retrospective plus future inspiration for yourself and existing customers, and a great showcase to attract new customers. Plus, of course, an amazing Drawing Wiff Waffles art piece.

The Ecoline Watercolor brush pens are my go to art supply. You can use them as how they are (you can easily take them with you to use as an accent colour), you can water them down and/or mix them, they are quite cheap in my country (cheaper than most markers), you can refill them (if they ever run out, I still have mine from 3-4 years ago, take in mind: 2 inktobers and frequent use), they have a brush nib that you can switch around (only did that once I think, I frayed the other side a bit). I just love them. 😍

Upcreate boxes seems to be a very good idea to buy! Here where I live that types of artsy boxes don't really exists lol, and if exists is very veryy expensive.
