If you choose 1 for drum bus would it be 73 or 78. My drum bus goes into an x desk so it’s real clean to start with.
@mixbustv2 ай бұрын
Drum bus? 78, but the 73 would be more versatile for everything else.

It can´´t be emulated with a plugin and it should be very versitile. I 100% agree with that statement !

What do you think using this as a mastering compressor on mostly EDM tracks ... ? I know, VCA, SSL etc. but this one has that factor X in it for me. It's like a heavy train moving ... Do you think it's too much of a stretch? It has all of that different compressor settings and FET is not so "slow" (as for example optical, or tube etc.) for mastering that has to have some attack and release time to glue things up so that mix dosen't jump around (pump) like a crazy cat ... 😄
@mixbustv6 ай бұрын
It's a great comp, but honestly not a first choice for EDM. And definitely not for mastering. This is a mixing comp, fuzzy and warm, you're gonna lose some punch on transients. Go for a VCA

Nice video! Quick question though. I’m on the fence between the 1973 and 78. The multi-band features of the 73 makes it very appealing. However, after seeing your vid I’m thinking otherwise. Is there a radical benefit in simply buying both? I want the tone shaping feature now. Thanks to you! Both of these devices seemingly have the ability to make work lighter while working in post. Any thoughts?

They're both great units and well worth the price. Thye're also very different from each other so if you're thinking redundancy, you won't have that.

@@mixbustv thanks! I’m ordering both now then. I can’t believe their price points…

Could the drawmer 1978 replace the API 2500? Thinking of buying either the one or the other.
@mixbustv7 ай бұрын
Definitely not. They have almost opposite characters. API is a snappy VCA with a mid forward tone and bite, the 78 is warm and fuzzy and rounds the transients. Both versatile in their own applications but very very different sound

I am looking for a budget BUS-compressor. Would you recommend this one or the Warm Audio Bus Comp?
@mixbustv8 ай бұрын
No not really. We have great plugins today, either you have budget or leave it alone

Do you think is there a point in getting both 1978 and 1976 for drum buss? I'm particularly aiming to use it for the drum buss.

This might sound silly, but can I use this without using a preamp?.... Well obviously I will have a 48v phantom supply next to my condenser mic but... Just want to know if this is really that good I can just skip getting a preamp. Or I can just get a $100 preamp and connect to this baby?...... Or if you can be so incline to do this and let me? lol By the way, great review!

Why'd you make a 6 minute teaser video promising audio examples just to find out at the end, that you're being directed to another 40 minute video containing major discusison AND the audio examples? For me to find those audio examples I found entriguing I either have to sit through 40 minutes of video or skip through 40 minutes of video. It's audio exampes, they don't have to last longer than 20-30 seconds, just put them at the end of this video? What the fuck
@HSSLNG9 жыл бұрын
***** You too, buddy, I'm glad you didn't jump your gun and blow off my head for being skeptical. Take care, highly appreciate the content (even when it's without audio examples).
@jesuschrist15019 жыл бұрын
+HSSLNG Well for starters, welcome to KZbin, if you actually looked at the video itself, the one that is 40 minutes long, there is this thing called annotations that can be appeared on videos, they are also clickable. If I'm not mistaken there is annotations that you can click to skip to your sought after samples. As a matter of fact, you can listen to it for 20-30 seconds or to your hearts content if you like since the sample time frame is quite actually more than enough.
