@alandacraft I got a machine about 5 years ago and decided I was only going to do gift bags, no wrapping paper about 4 years ago, so all my special gifts get one of these bags, your tip to use friction pens is my fave. That has taken me far in my sewing journey. Also first tutorial where I realized the importance of ironing and marking my fabric .. yeah I was out here as blind Freddy guessing if it was square 😂

I plan to also teach them how to make the fabric yo yo's which they can carry in the bag and take out to play tic tac to on the bag - stole that idea from Pinterest.

So the raw edges are just left to fray. No overlocking or French seam?

I find it very difficult to leave a raw edge unfinished, unless it’ll be encased eventually as in quilting. Maybe it’s a little ocd, but I always want those edges contained somehow!

These are good tips for finishing the project Barbara, and the edges can also be cut with pinking shears.

Thank you Annette 😊. I'm not quite sure exactly which 2 lines you are referring to. I generally mark the lines on the reverse of my projects as that is the side I am sewing on. This makes it easy for me to see where I am supposed to be sewing. Hope that makes sense.

I am a novice sewer about to learn knitting! I love this tutorial but how do you re-size to make it larger - sorry if this is a daft question.

There's no daft questions :) You choose what size you need it to be finished and add seam allowance. According to these instructions you'd add 1.5" to the top for the fold over channel and 1/2" to the side for the seam width ways. Hope that makes sense!
