I've done molds with that same material. When you use wood in the particular mold making you need to rub it down good with bees wax. It fills in the grain of the wood and makes the mold release properly.

You guys should make an accurate replica of the N4516 sword from Ljubljana (also commonly called "The Ljubljana Sword")! It is a wonderfully balanced, beautiful, and clean-lined longsword, whose complex blade geometry and perfect ratios make it a mathematical wonder as well as a lethal sword suitable for war, yet nimble enough for intricate fencing! It is my favourite sword, and recreating it would certainly be a testament to the skill in your shop!
