You shouldn't generalize everyone to that extent. There are people who know the game who haven't played professional. Some of the best coaches are former players but some didn't play the game to the highest degree. Depends who you discuss this with. Some people in the media give their takes simply because they're part of the media. Take it with a grain of salt.

Yes, and it is the same reason Lebron is so overrated. Steph is a much better leader and team basketball player than LJ. The difference is Lebron has physical gifts (and sticking needles in his ass...LOL!) and athleticism that only a few players who ever lived, were blessed with. I'm not a fan of Steph or Lebron, but Steph is underrated and Lebron is overrated. Steph has far superior skills, fundamentals, and leadership. Unfortunately, his size and athleticism cause him to be a liability on defense at times (not for a lack of effort though). Lebron on the other hand has the size and athleticism to defend but pretty much stopped giving effort on that end after he felt he was snubbed from the 2013 DPOY award. Now he uses that end to rest and concentrates on stat padding. I root against Steph's and Lebron's teams. In 2016, I rooted for Cavs in finals. Since then I rather see Steph win over LJ, because Curry cares more about winning than his brand and individual accolades.

Curry doesn’t “need” a finals MVP. He played well enough to win one and his finals performances have been fine. Curry doesn’t decide the finals MVP award and I was stunned when Iggy got it. Iggy played great and was the difference in that series against the Cavs the first time, but Curry was the MVP. In the end, what one finals MVP will do for Curry, except for people to stop talking about what he doesn’t have. The man’s play has been more than good enough to make him validated. Curry getting a 4th ring and playing well for his team is good enough. If someone else gets crazy hot and wins the award over his great play, so be it.

He specifically pointed that comment at some of the media pundits today. And he was talking about the intricacies of the game that probably only a player that played on a high level could understand or a coach or executive intimately involved in the game on a daily basis. No one expected a player/team shooting this many threes to win a championship, so it can go the same with a player who isn't ball dominant not winning Finals MVP when the entire defensive scheme is designed to stop him against an offense designed to feed the open man. Rob and Chris you both sound as defensive and insecure as some of the players you critique when you make comments about their game. Anywho love the show still. Just my OPINION. Thanks!

Steph only needs one to shut up the media. Steph doesn't need one. They just talked about how teams literally game-panned defending Steph specifically. In spite of the fact that he still had fantastic finals numbers in all those wins, people just ignore the fact maybe intentionally slowing him down was the reason he didn't outplay Kevin Freaking Durant or win that one in 2015 (that literally everyone except for the voters that day agree that he should have won). Whether he wins one of these or not doesn't remove the rings he won or change the stats he has on record. It's just a checkbox for the stuck up loud mouth elitists who think they get to define how legacies work.

The fact is he needed 6 games to beat a lebron james team with no kyrie or love, with dellavedova as second best player... he then go recruits kevin durant, to get two more rings, and those two dont really count in my eyes, 4 hall of famers in their prime on one team is not fair... so lets see if he can win one without kevin and against a healthy team...

@@Valentindk Did anyone really think highly of that Warriors team during the 2014-2015 season? I mean seriously. We look back at them now as if they were world beaters already but that was just the beginning. Cleveland was still favored just because of LeBron. Regardless, wtf does any of that have to do with the Finals MVP? The better TEAM won. Injuries always play a factor, just like how Cleveland only started coming back in 2016 when Draymond was out, when Iggy got hurt, and when Bogut got hurt (and that's on top of Steph never being 100% during those playoffs. Remember, he came back from yet another ankle injury). And yes, that's all true. It's just conveniently left out of these conversations because Bogut and Iggy aren't as big stars as Steph is but they were vitally important to that team. We know Steph doesn't play defense and when they lose two of their best defenders, one of whom was their rim protector, you act like it's Steph's fault that Kyrie and LeBron went off largely at the rim. It's what they're best at and they suddenly had an easier time. You also have to add in how important Bogut was to that offense. He was an excellent passer and pick and roll player but was replaced by Festus Ezeli, who you probably haven't even heard of since 2016. Yeah, things changed because of injuries and Cleveland smartly took advantage. Maybe Cleveland would have won with Kyrie and Love, maybe not. Maybe GSW wins in 2016 if everyone for them was healthy. Maybe not. That's just how it goes. You can dust the salt off now.

Ok I can get with the idea that you have to nitpick when you’re talking top 10 or top 15. But specifically the finals mvp you can’t just look at the award and say oh this guy has or doesn’t have one so that means had the most impact or didn’t have the most impact. The MVP is more telling of a guys legacy because that’s a totality of a whole season the finals mvp is just one series and any and everything can happen. You have to have add context to everything yes Iguodala won it in 2015 but is he better than Steph? No. In 2017 and 2018 it was a sweep and gentlemens sweep if any other warriors won it would it change the results of the series? No warriors were going to smack them no matter who won it. Steph wasnt the star he is now in 2015, it was still Lebron’s league and since 2012 the FMVP was Lebron or who guarded Lebron (so Kawhi, Iggy, KD (since they gave Steph virtually no consideration). Steph didnt even get a single FMVP vote in 2015 despite averaging 26 6 & 5 in comparison to Iggy 16, 5 & 4. Iggy outplayed Draymond and Klay, for sure but not Steph.

The moment Rob started saying “if you didn’t play basketball then you don’t know basketball game”..then all of his explanation was off of Draymond’s point coz that’s not what Draymond said.. Draymond said “If you don’t know basketball…” , he didn’t say “If you didn’t play basketball then you don’t know basketball “. Matter of fact, Draymond had ever said before that “there’re a lot of players in the NBA right now who don’t know basketball knowledgewise!”…. Which means they know how to play and they are pros but they don’t have that elite advanced knowledge of the basketball game !!

Love your show as well as the other media members but I have to be honest. The reason why your thoughts on basketball don't hold as much weight as the players do is because the majority of you simplify everything to stats and talent. How many times have you guys discredited Kobe when taking your players? The majority of players rank kobe ahead of Lebron but not the media. The media does the opposite and laughs when they hear the players say that as if that's a crazy notion. On one of your ranking you guys( the media) had kobe ranked 14th. The actual players rank kobe 2nd only behind MJ and of not 2nd at least their top 5. Until you guys stop with these statements ya make we take your word with a grain of salt. This is your take most of the times "how can kobe be better than Lb? Lb average more rebounds and assists and points!" This is the way players think " Of course he'll average more of he's playing for the cavs and is playing in the east. I want to know who out of the 2 do I trust more to win championships? Who out of the two isn't afraid of the big moment? "

The fact that there are people who still hold Kobe's first three rings against him (stats without context) shows Steph needs a fmvp to be 'validated' by the media or general populous consensus if they are to be consistent. These media don't understand basketball but stats sheet. Draymond is absolutely right. Steph being doubled absolutely affects his stats, and these media never understand it and it never was talked about. They don't understand defensive game plan. If they covered the game Steph scored 0 point in college one time, they would say he was a bum. But they don't know Steph was in the corner all game with two guys on him and his teammates played 4 on 3 and his team won by 30. Steph was the mvp of that game scoring 0 point and these two guys talking here would never understand that.

What Dray was trying to bring across was that Steph chose to lift up others to WIN. Of course he always could go selfish stat padding, hero balling like many who lost finals but Steph always chooses to win. Steph is the ultimate team player, he's the GOAT team player if you will. And let's be honest, the Finals MVP doesn't indicate any valid player greatness other than a situational greatness for like 3 games. This title is far more a media thing than a baller thing and to fully get that, to really understand that, it helps when you know balling from the inside out, when you lived actually playing bball on the court. You can get great knowledge from watching and analysing something but you need to experience it to get experience. You will never get, ie understand, pain or joy just watching pain and joy, you need to experience it. That was what Dray was trying to say, he's not taking a shot at the media, he is making a point for Steph's undisputable greatness.

I think JJ Reddick made the best argument for Stephs greatness. He’s the only player to average 25, 5 and 5 in a finals series, win and not get the finals MVP. And he did it 3 times, in 15’, 17’ and 18’. The media has really done everything it can to discredit Stephen Curry. But Draymonds right, anyone with eyes can see how much Steph impacts a game and how much the floor changes just by his mere presence.

Yeah I know Rob had his feelings hurt, but Draymond wasn't wrong. The vast majority of people that get a "sports media" platform don't actually know the game or don't discuss the game in any detail or sophistication beyond the most basic surface-level elementary observations. Anyone can be handed some stats and say this is better than this. But when we are talking about real sports, the type of talking that typically coaches and players have where they know that a stat is just the tip of the iceberg and there is nuance behind every inch of the playing area and every person that plays...you get none of that from "your field"
