When you have installed the hub and TRVs / Room Stats - check the +insights menu. If you have Smart Meters and they are compatible, Drayton will sell you a Home Display Unit (mine was £15) - the apps checks if the meters compatible and provides the ordering details. This allows the app to show the actual gas and electrical use and cost. (In 30 minute slots) You can set budgets and it predicts heating costs based on 7 days weather forecast. A very useful tool for “tuning” the heat round the house to minimise expenditure

Excellent video - very clear. Hopefully this will help plumbers feel more comfortable about using the newer smart technologies. Currently they tend to be very reluctant, and prefer to stick to what they know. I am recommending Wiser to a friend and their plumber is not at all happy about the idea of installing it, as he's not done one before. This will help a lot.

Question for Drayton/Mark.... My heating is a single zone that heats all rads & hot water together when the boiler is running. If I have a rad thermostat on each rad's TRV can I 'zone' the heating anyway I like by combining rooms into different zones and turning these zones on or off? Also to run just the hot water I turn off all the rad thermostats so the heating just heats the water?

Yes that is what i do, if i understand you correctly, I do not even use the room thermostat, i have smart TRV's fitted to every rad and if i am home alone i just heat the room im in, saves lots of money

Is the thermostat necessary or can I just use TRVs? If I have to use a thermostat (say in the hall) and a bedroom TRV is calling for heat, does the thermostat have to call for heat too before the boiler fires up?

I'm a fairly techy DIY guy, and watching your video gave me so much more detail than many others which don't explain things in depth like you have. Really glad I found your video, which I found great and any speeding up was only just noticeable. The only thing which I think was slightly out was the lip-sync which I found a little distracting, so unless that's some other YT or video setting that caused it, might be you mistakenly jogged something by a few frames during your editing? I also learned about the insights+ In Home Display from a comment made by @peterwilliams5597 which might provide a solution for my Gas/Elec Smart meters where my EDF supplied in-home display has never worked, and sounds like the Drayton Insights+ IHD might do the job. Anyway, I'm not in the trade and wanted to let you know this vid was just fantastic! Cheers Mark, good job, Jim

Great video, I have a question about if one rad is calling for heat and all others are switched off how does this affect boiler short cycling as a single radiator may only be 1.5kw and the boiler s lower modulation may only be 9kw load. You can check the device is connected to the Hub - click the “cog” top left, Select “devices” then select the TRV or Thermostat you suspect. Then click “identify” - if connected to the Hub the device will flash the LED’s or the screen. If it is connected then try resetting and recalibrating the TRV. (This will drive the motor) If they are out of range of the Hub then the smart switches can be used to extend the wireless signal I had two “designer” radiators that came with TRV’s. The Wiser TRV heads fitted these but the operating pin was much shorter and the Wiser head would not operate them. I had to replace both with new Drayton TRV bodies to get the rads working correctly

Recently purchased the 3ch hub and 2 room stats. Very nice bit of kit. I did have a good bit of trouble on initial setup with the hub not registering to the cloud. It eventually worked and has been great since. Quick question about the temp adjustment on the room stat, is the set temp a minimum temp that the heating will aim for regardless of what's set in the schedule? Also would be great to see and track the humidity in the app as the room stats also display humidity. And maybe incorporate a display in the app if the boiler ran or not for a set schedule. For instance boiler was meant to come on between 7 and 8 but the stat was satisfied so boiler did not run.

Hi Mark, this video is great thanks, but I have a question about the wall plate wiring for the hub... Is it just terminals 1 and 3 that you are connecting to the boiler? The manual says to connect L->L, N->N, 1 (com)->Ls and 3 (on)->Lr. My boiler manual (Worcester Greenstar 35cdi combi) says it should have its Ns connected to controller N, Ls to controller L and Lr to controller live return. It has all got me rather confused! I'm replacing a Drayton iflo controller but the boiler also had a Digistat SCR connected.

@Kit072 жыл бұрын
@Drayton Controls i've found few issues, that can be sorted with a software/firmware fixes 1.) on 2 channel systems where HW and CH are separate. and if CH is turned on, the setup requires HW to be on simultaneously in order for the water to warm the radiators. i think this setup is called gravity fed. I current system runs like this HW + CH = CH working correctly and warming up. However in the app and firmware and wiser system in kit 2 (2 channel) controls them independently of each other. So i have to manually turn on HW and CH if i want the Heating to work correctly, otherwise there is cold water being pumped around the CH There needs to be a software switch that automatically turns on the HW when CH is turned On. i do realise that there are many systems, so there should be a toggle on/off switch in settings menu, that the user can select if they have a gravity fed systems or a system that works this way, (so the auto HW +CH switching only apply if this toggled on) then once toggle on, then the routine can be coded HW set on if CH is set to On. this should cover for manual on, scheduled on and boost on etc. the firmware of the hub will be need to be updated with same coding that also applies to the manual override heating button on the Hub itself, as there is no physical switch or setup that would make this work simply, the solution is o be 100% software based i presume the simplest way to implement this in the firmware, is same routine as the app that also includes the manual override, however the the Hubs gravity software toggle on/off switch, is to be updated to on or off via the wiser App's toggle on/off button, and the hub setting is permanently set through the app for this feature only. 2.) have a setting for frost protection for the users that need it, the implementation should be the similar to point above, where the user can enable the feature via a toggle on/off button, and can change and set the temperature (which can be fed back through the radiator or room stat) when the frost protection activates, the current away feature i don't think considers if the occupants are home and temps reach closet to freezing point at night/ below 5 degrees , that the frost protection would turn on the HW + CH to prevent freezing. it would need to be always active for the users who need it without having to set the away mode every night to enable the frost protection 2b.) i noticed that the rad and room stats didn't measure actual temperature and there a discrepancy in the reading between each stat and the weather panel. i took both stats outside on a no windy days and compared the temp, i found that when compared to the weather panel temp, the room stat was 3 degrees lower and the rad state what 2.5 degrees lower. this would affect the the internal room temp settings for auto on when temp below a certain level and frost protection temps to the discrepancy. 4.) multi user access, to give other householders control of the heating to use the basic operational features, but are unable to access the higher settings unless the original user give them permission. you can see an example this setup on the Ring Camera / alarm app.

Is there any way to turn a radiator off manually without using the app?
@Draytonheating2 жыл бұрын
It depends on how the radiators are controlled. If you only have a room thermostat, then this device can be used locally to turn OFF the radiators. However, this would depend on the room settings. If the room is in auto, it will only remain OFF until the next scheduled event then the setpoint will change accordingly. If the room is set on manual, it will remain off. The radiator thermostats can only be "boosted down" rather than a manual OFF.

I have been using this for over a year now. Such a shame you can not actually name each thermostat. For example I have two thermostats in the living room but can not find a way to name each "living room 1" and "living room 2" that both are in the "ROOM" Living Room. In setting you have a "Devices" tab & and "Room" tab but there seems to be no difference. the devices, if a thermostats, are always called thermostats. Also you have on the app a "Boost All" icon. My room stat is on the hall way wall. It would be great if the routines like Boost all & away mode were icons on the room state window. While having a phone app is great for setting up etc. It is still nice to be able to walk up to the wall stat and select a mode. The wall stat does have a boost button but as far as I can tell this is not a boost all button. The only way I could get the wall stat to boost all down stairs was to add it, and all radiator thermostats to the same room.
