Is there credible evidence for UFO's of extraterrestrial origin?

The most credible evidence is that we as Homo Sapiens exist, therefor others must exist in a universe that shares the same laws of physics and chemistry as on Earth. Otherwise, to argue that we are the only ones, is equal to argue that God created Earth in 7 days from nothing, in uniqueness compared to the rest of the observable and unobservable universe. MIT did a study on how long it would take a singular technological spacefaring civilization to fully explore every single solar system in the Milky Way, around 7 million years (with sub-FTL technology, no magical warp drives and no stargates, just traditional linear propulsion and deceleration at the midpoint). This is because as colonization and expansion continues, so does the total industrial output of the civilization and resources available, thus the total number of probes or colony ships sent out, increase exponentially for every previously visited or colonized solar system. Worth noting here is also that the Drake Equation is not a proper estimation of anything, since it does NOT factor in colonization and exploration. It only gives you the number of alien civilization homeworlds out there, it does NOT factor in, or attempt to calculate, how many solar systems they have spread to during their X year lifespans. In short, the Drake Equation only gives you the STARTING POINT of these civilizations, NOT their CURRENT expansion or territory. The galaxy is billions of years old, and the above mentioned calculation was done with a single spacefaring civilization, during all those billions of years. If only 3 civilizations existed during the entire galaxy's lifetime, then we have a vastly increased probability that EVERY solar system has been colonized or at least probed by a physical actual craft. Since spacecraft can exist in perpetuity given a proper orbit, especially a wide orbit around a star rather than just around a planet, therefor there ought to exist at least ONE probe from another civilization (currently alive or ancient extinct) even in our very own solar system, orbiting a planet, moon or the sun itself, somewhere out there, still active or dormant since eons. Now, IF faster than light travel is indeed possible, that number of probable probes in our very own solar system increases exponentially by a factor of how many other galaxies exist in the universe (not just the observable universe, but the total size of the universe). At that point, it would mathematically NOT be improbable at all for our planet to have millions of visitors yearly. Even astronomers simply havent done the math on the sheer scales of even a single interstellar civilization, the industrial output and the "manpower" in terms of probes or spacecraft they might possess. We're talking about numbers incomprehensibly large. So whenever i hear self-proclaimed astronomers and phycisists and sceptics say "its not probable that ET's might be visiting us", it's equivalent to them saying "Earth was created as a divine miracle by the hand of God". Yet somehow they themselves do not recognize that to be the core gist of what they're saying. Because of course a self-respecting sceptic and scientist wouldnt argue in favor of God having created life on Earth. But that is exactly what they're doing when claiming that ET visitation isnt probable. It's more than probable, it's expected. It is in fact improbable that our solar system would have been spared of any exploration what so ever given the numbers above.

I have a hard time trusting Eric. He has Peter Thiel on as a guest more than anybody else. Thiel owns Palantir which is the company national security created to collect and store information on all Americans and likely, all foreigners as well. I don't know what this means but it can't be anything other than profoundly evil. Look what's going on in Ukraine or what happened with Covid. The people distributing information are all employed to distract from the real issues. The virus most likely didn't come from Wuhan, it was just released there. As a religious Jew myself whose studied the period of Hellenizers and the Haskalah, these assimilation movements detach the genetic psyche from archetypal belief structure. This shakes faith. This leads to the post modern condition. I know science guys dont want to accept it but look at the recent research Incan Genetics adapting to the usage of hallucinagenic substances. It didnt just change their thinking, it changed their genes. Similar, Jewish genes are the most insular of all. As a result when Jews, like Eric, seperate themselves they begin to morph into sinners. Think Epsitein. Think Hollywoods Weinstein. Think Bernie Madoff. These are hyper assimilating groups of Jews, rather than the religious core. If guys like Eric would join us in Minyan at Orthodox synagogue, instead of splintering their own Christian sects, they would be able to access the entire community network and funding system eric is looking for. Orthodox higher education institutions are VERY well funded, and no one works. They just learn all day. If eric cared he would direct some of the Talmudic institutional wisdom toward science, and syncrenize faith and science. This is my issue with him. He is off. Ive spent my whole life attempting to grapple with the divide between Materialists and Idealists. Eric refuses to let go of his Materialism, and he will remain an Epikoros. When he tosses that off, accepts with FAITH, not proof, gods existence then we jews might be able to get off this rock, and start the next exilic period, and build our third temple in the cosmos, and be as numerous as the stars as God promises to Abraham. Eric reads "you will be as numerous as the stars" and doesnt accept with faith WE WILL REACH THE STARS. He wants to wait until something hits him in the head. God doesnt worm that way.

I definitely care more about bad things happening to good people. I don't especially care that much about bad people being punished in most cases, excepting where they need to be stopped from continuing abuses, in which case it can be emotionally powerful. But then again i tend to view punishment mainly as a deterrent rather than revenge. If I somehow knew someone who did something unspeakably terrible would never do it again and legitimately regretted it, and wasn't indefinitely benefiting from their former bad action, I would be totally fine with letting them go, excepting maybe if they needed to serve as a warning for others. It's mainly people who show absolutely no regard or remorse for the damage they have done or do (or only fake remorse, remorse for getting caught rather than the action), that I really want to see come to harm. But even then, I'd usually much rather see people saved from victimization by such bad actions than be sure the villain got their just deserves, if I had to choose. Or at least that's what I seem to observe in myself. That's not denying there are behaviors that I find myself wishing the most horrible suffering on. But I try to avoid that too, if for no other reason than it probably only hurts me and not them.

I always appreciate what Eric Weinstein has to say and I especially like the fact that he has no problem admitting that he has changed his mind about something. Too many people in academia will fight tooth and nail over a theory that they subscribed to many years ago while knowing that in the time that's past since, the theory has been proven to be totally wrong. One can see many examples of this throughout academia. I wish they would follow Eric's lead on that and just admit they are wrong and searching for what's correct or accepting the new proposal.

A very welcome and open debate! You gotta love Eric’s brutally honest analyses and analogies. But being part of academia, even more kudos to Brian. It takes courage to host and absorb Eric’s comments. So then, listening to this debate, gradually the realisation sinks in, just what exactly happened to academia post WW2; It all hinges on the ‘open society’ of the West getting increasingly vulnerable in the 50s and 60s to Soviet spying in academia as well as their increased efforts to destabilise / subvert Western societies via growing influence in academia, greens and leftists parties. Often via founding and funding of NGO's. Recognising this threat, the West wisely decided for security reasons, to transfer all relevant and strategically important research to private companies, whereas the residual subjects were allowed to stay in the public domain and even allowed to balloon to its current oversized collection of social welfare queens with accompanying prizes to keep up appearances. So, what was the split? Human, environmental, general medical studies were allowed to remain public, yet ALL relevant STEM research was removed. This means that all STEM research remaining in the public universities is either deemed non-essential (e.g. Standard Model of particles / forces) or are straight ‘distractions & frauds’. The latter category entails all of the following: String theory, Multiverse, Dark Energy, Dark Matter, SuSy, Quantum Gravity, Detection of GW’s, etc. It was all Nobel Prized sanctioned distraction. I appreciate the candidness of this discussion as far as describing, I think very accurately, the problems brought on our society by our reliance upon an elite class of academics and officials, who are prone to corruption and are basically fond of forcing their own whims and bad policy upon the rest of us, to our expense and to their advantage. What I cannot fathom - and I feel like I see this everywhere these days, in any conversations of a remotely socio-political nature - is why Eric Weinstein, and by your agreement with him, you as well @DrBrianKeating, seem to propose that the answer to this hierarchical corruption is to establish a NEW meritocracy in academics, one which is driven by (correct me if I misunderstand) mathematical intelligence and maybe some arbitrary measure of usefulness? And applying this to people's "fertility?" "We probably needed to go to a eusocial education model..." "What we needed was most of us not to be fertile" Eric makes these assertions after describing the problems with the academic hierarchy as it has been, he says, since the 70's, and which he says are a symptom of "equity" and a philosophy that is "worse than communism." Well, OK. But his proposed solution appears to me, for all I can discern (maybe I'm way off the mark?), and which he claims was "about to happen" in the early 70's, to be a kind of "meritocratic" eugenics, whereby the most "intelligent" (and a casual laugh is shared, here, about how Keating is having too few children) should be reproducing, and everyone else should be "working." And through invocation of the Math Geneology Project, my understanding of what is suggested is that mathematicians, by virtue of "surviving to adulthood and reproducing," are going to create exponentially more mathematicians over subsequent generations. (???) I am hoping that this part of the conversation was simply a long-winded relation of what the problematic "elites" believe. Because it goes without saying that trying to apply some arbitrary definition of "merit" to the ridiculous authoritarian dream of deciding who does or does not get to have children not only goes against scientific evidence (being "good at mathematics" not only has a flimsy relationship to deterministic genes to begin with - and the idea of purely deterministic genetics itself is basically pseudoscience, as genes are often multi-purposeful and it is dangerous to assume we know all their functions - but it certainly doesn't transfer through generations exponentially! Not to mention the subjective and always changing definition of what is or is not "useful" in an evolving society!) but also goes against the very principles that Weinstein himself seems to espouse earlier in this video, and in fact suggests the establishment of an even MORE centralized and corrupt hierarchy that would be, certainly, far "worse than communism," insofar as it strikes me as being pretty communistic already (Have we already forgotten "from each according to his/her ability," which was literally quoted earlier in this conversation?), but taken to the Nth degree. I see this kind of backflip so often these days, it's crazy. Jordan Peterson seems rather fond of it. Basically, someone accurately describes the corruption and lies we are being told by authorities whom we are meant to trust, and I think to myself, "Finally, rational people are crying foul!" and then ten minutes later into the conversation, they turn around and start talking about the need for eugenics, and/or why we should have MORE, not LESS, centralized control over our population. This looks no different to me than the self-destruction I am seeing from our Republican and Democrat party thought leaders, who constantly try to one-up each other by proposing that the answer to the other's power-mongering is to give THEMSELVES, and/or the authorities THEY wish to salute, more power. I am still fairly new to this channel. So please feel free to correct me if I'm misunderstanding the positions, here. It's not my channel and nobody asked for my opinion. But if anyone has read this far in my rambling response I'm writing, here it is. What we DO need is more DE-centralization. We need to protect the voices of all individuals, their ability to consent to things that affect them, and their ability to freely compete with one another on a voluntary basis. The way to fight communism is not with plutocracy. Civil rights and civil liberties do not have to be mutually exclusive. The back-and-forth between these principles is always going to be messy, but it's a balance we have to keep striving for, even or perhaps especially as we advance into an increasingly digital age.

@@electronmess Perhaps my response was a bit poorly phrased but I don't mean to use the compressor to get Brian level with Eric. I suggest a compressor on both mics as a bit of smooth compression is desirable to even things out because levels do fluctuate depending where the head is located compared to the mic. It's not 20 db difference between words or sentences but in the absence of fader riding a bit of compression is not a bad choice I think. IMO there's nothing wrong with touching transients, that's what the compressor is for. It's spoken word, not a drumbus where you want punchy transients to come through. Of course I understand that severely compressing with bad settings actually can affect legibility of words. But I do assume that you yourself add compression to vocal tracks (be it leads or background vocals) too and therefor recognise it's not a problem for which the wheel needs to be invented for? (1176, LA3A, 33609 are my personal favourites along with this free "Klanghelm MJUC jr" plugin which is some take on a vari-mu). Being afraid of pumping doesn't really make sense to me. If you get a compressor into pumping territory then your settings are too extreme and it's kind of the opposite of "smoothing things out" and i'm assuming that if one would select "vocal presets" on a compressor, it would not get into the pumping territory. And my second remark is that Brian's mic is often mixed louder than the guest, as a hint that he might want to consider to change the volume for either one of them.

@@santibanks Sure, I'm mostly on board with that. I just know many people tend to be hasty with compression and add it everywhere just in principal, without second guessing if it's even necessary, or how exactly it should be set up. It can do more harm than good if you don't know what you're doing. Some people just slap a preset expecting miracles. Yes, Brian is louder, but Eric's quietest parts aren't as drowned compared to his average. So my initial thought was, first just raise the gain, to get them on the same level. 🙂 If Dr. Keating were to use a compressor on the whole chain, containing both him and Eric, his voice would approach comp. threshold more than Eric's. And if there were two compressors processing Eric and Brian separately, set up differently, you'd still end up with two unequal gain levels. So you'd have to change volume anyway. 😄 I use compressor in my work, yes. But in most cases, if I don't use aggresive compression in a creative way, I prefer being more surgical with it and make light and targeted brush strokes. As an example where compression is at its most useful is, when you have a rich mix full of layered instruments. Quieter parts of your vocals are getting drowned, In such cases, gain cannot save you, and compressor helps to make it beautifully fall into place. ☺️

University is the last leg of someone's formal education. It's also the last place you should look for solutions to America's problem with inequality in education. The problems start long before then. I wonder how many of these university professors preach diversity in education, then go to their local town hall and vote to shut down the public schools. These issues start at that level: primary/secondary education, and local/state government. Like everything else national politics, the fascination with equality at University seems to be a veil for far deeper issues stemming from negligent Liberal (in a classical sense) governance. Giving someone preferential access to scholarships doesn't remedy 14 years of neglecting their education. Frankly, it seems many in power think it's better to keep people stupid, because it makes them less likely to become active democratic citizens. The country was set up to segregate, it's hard at work accomplishing exactly that, and it starts at the local level. You know what actually might help? If these university professors went to their local town halls and told their upper middle class professional neighbors that they govern like a bunch of southern segregationists.

1:20:50 i finally "got" Brian. He's so far into the proverbial box, that even when he thinks his mind is liberated to think "outside the box", he's not even touching the walls of the box.. Furthermore, and perhaps most important, he has some sense of engrained notion of upholding the "scientific sceptical truth" to such an extent, that he feels compelled to analyze the other side of any argument, to play devils advocate for every single issue, no matter how absurd it is, in order for him, to his own elevation of the "scientific principle", to adhere to the almost divine and holy concept of never settling with one solution or one answer, in absolute terror of him perhaps in some universe being charged as being biased. He's so afraid of making a stand for ANY opinion or ANY issue what so ever, becuase he might be wrong, or other people watching might disagree. So the only possible course his mind can take, is the neutral course, where he neither says A is right, or says B is wrong. This is often CONFUSED with the scientific method, but its taken way too far, to the point of nothing being true, if everything is equally valid.. It gives the sense that, if you were to tell Brian how bad the holocaust was, he'd say "well hold on a bit here, perhaps there are other factors as well". Of course there are other factors, in everything. But that isnt sufficent to sacrifice your very ability to attain an opinion and stance on something.. I see the same thing in Lex Fridman lately. Where he's so enormously focused on being "open-minded" (in the misinterpreted sense of never settling on one conclusion), to the detriment of his own mind, where he's not able to conclusively think anything without also having to put equal value on the opposite thing. In a sense, the concept of "Equity" has infested these peoples minds to the point where they're not even able to think something, without a hundred million caveats and devils advocate'ism and "hang on but perhaps". No. Some things you have to crystallize into your own stance. You have to stand for SOMETHING, ANYTHING. You can't take equal value and validity to every single possible outcome in the multiverse we live in. I know to some extent you do this for the audience, to cater to every possible opinion and stance every possible viewer may have, beacuse you dont want to alienate anyone or disagree with any of the viewers. But this isnt sustainable Brian. You can't please everyone, because everyone cant possibly have the same stances on every issue that you have. You need to not be so enslaved to the comments section (THIS ONE INCLUDED, feel free to ignore it) I feel every sentence you speak, and this applies to SO many people nowadays, are premediated by an almost subconcious precognitive vision of "oh someone might say that is bigoted, someone might say that is x-phobe", so you're self-moderating and self-censoring your own very thoughts before they are allowed to manifest into spoken words. Their own minds are walking on proverbial eggshells in fear of saying something that might be extremely misconstrued in the most ridiculous sense, to the point where you cant say anything conclusive about anything. If you stand for everything, you stand for nothing. You have to dare to let the waveform collapse into something you truly, actually, believe in. Otherwise you'll forever be this amorphous thing that could just be replaced by ChatGPT. "There are many factors to consider, many people have diverse beliefs and opinions, its important to judge each opinion on the merits of its own structures". Not to this extent. You're a human being with a free thinking free mind. You're not a robot programmed to stay the neutral path on every possible issue imaginable. You have to dare to be free, and stand for something. You have to dare to say, "I believe THIS is true", and say "no, i believe THAT is wrong". I mean Eric is literally asking you, as a university professor, "is it okay that equity means your top preforming students need to be brought down to equalize the total outcomes of all students?", and you're literally afraid to say that it isnt okay, that it goes against the entire foundation of science. You're afraid to say the Earth is round, because "perhaps there are some aspects to Flat Earth theory that should be considered". For gods sake. Do you believe nothing?

I like Eric, I like his brother as well, but my goodness what must that family environment have been like??
