Really nice score J! It will be interesting to see how it sounds after you give it some love!

I own the system 8000 tuner, amplifier and cassette deck. They are all in perfect condition, and they are some of the best gear that I own.

@23chilled No, not on TV. You got a catalog and you ordered by sending a card back to them.

The VU-Meters of my System 8000 only move a little bit on one place of the scale, do they need some oil?
@vdochev12 жыл бұрын
@DrCassette Yeah, you're right, there are no screws. But the design is good. The heatsinks are in the back so you can put things on top and it is massive so I presume there are less vibrations. Maybe it is useful for a DJ. Anyway it looks like a great find! I would never throw such a nice piece in the garbage! How many watts does it pump out? You should make another video when you're done restoring it.
@douro2012 жыл бұрын
@vdochev 300wpc into 4 ohms. From looking at it, it is probably a Darlington push-pull amplifier.

Hey! Do you know how to change the VU Meter light bulbs? Mine are not working anymore. Thanks!
@DrCassette6 жыл бұрын
I sold this amplifier 6 years ago, so I really don't remember how it was put together. Looking at this video, it seems the light bulbs are mounted behind the actual meters, so they should be relatively easy to get out once you remove the top cover.

Thanks! Sadly, VU light bulbs are very hard to find nowadays... Any Ideas how I should proceed? Are there some universal light bulbs I can use or should I reverse search them with the information on it?
@DrCassette6 жыл бұрын
Light Bulbs unfortunately are rather troublesome to replace. You need to know the operating voltage (which you can determine simply by measuring the voltage supplied to the bulb) and the operating current, which in case of a bad bulb is much more of a problem because often it is not printed on the bulb. If you could find the service manual for the amp the specifications of the light bulbs are listed in there. Oftentimes I don't bother replacing light bulbs, especially when they are hard to get at and specifications are unknown. In those cases I get creative and replace the bulbs with LEDs, but this usually requires modification of both the electronics and the chassis.

I turn up the amp, but they only move closer to the + and only move maybe a couple mm back and forward.

I got the same Amplifier, its very cool, I got my Record Player and my Cassette Deck connected to it.

@douro20 Actually 100wpc. 300wpc is impossible as the maximum power consumption of the unit is only 350w.

@GanEdenVideo I don't think so. They are rounded and have no provisions for screws. I think they were just decoration. That was common on early 80s equipment.

@FelixTheHouseFreak Making things quieter temporarily, as shown. (So you can respond to whatever else may be demanding your attention.) It can be quite useful if you've got problems with channel tracking in the volume pot when playing back modern-day CDs and such, too. That amp definitely deserves some TLC, nice unit. Apparently it's from about '79.

@23chilled But was the Pioneer A91D sold by a home shopping company? I don't think so. This amplifier is good for what it is - comparing it to equipment made by companys such as Pioneer is just not fair.

@vdochev These handles however can not be used in such a cabinet because they don't have any screw holes, plus I don't think that all has the right dimensions.
@vdochev12 жыл бұрын
Professional equipment components have these handles because they are made to fit in large cabinets and connect to other systems. This is for easy and quick replacement.

I cant oil them anyway, I already tryed to take it apart, but that was very hard... so I put it back together... I also found out the meters are sealed by a red label and I didnt want to break the switchs on the front. The Numbers on the Capacitors looked like it was made in 1978.
@DrCassette11 жыл бұрын
Hmm, that doesn't sound quite right. Not sure what could be the problem though. However, don't mess around with the meters. They are very easy to damage.

@biggdaddy2001 As I already said, this is covered by the US "fair use" regulations, so I don't expect KZbin to cause me any trouble. I have seen other partners playing much longer music samples, without getting into trouble. You just have to stay within the limits.
@DrCassette11 жыл бұрын
OMG no, oil is going to permanently damage them! They will move accoring to the output volume, not according to the input volume. If you turn up the amp, they should move around quite a bit. At low volumes they just won't do much.

No, no, unfortunately any kind of copyrighted music played for longer than 10 seconds is going to attract the copyright police.
@dunstun36512 жыл бұрын
I think you can get away with playing copywighted music if its only being recorded with the camera mic. KZbin seem bothered only if music is piped in to the computer via a lead to the soundcard. That"s what I found out.
