Dr Weiss, the odds of you hearing me out of the thousands you deal with are next to none. I want you to know that I am a mom of five daughters, been with my husband for almost 18 years. I found out in 2018. I’ve bought every material you have. I booked an intensive three years ago where I finally had hope but he lost his job and it was ruined. Since then, I am still so alone but I have NEVER stopped watching you. Please never stop, you are the only man that has ever heard me, without even knowing me. I don’t know I can go on anymore like this. I want to thank you. Keep going

My first husband was addicted to porn. At 18 years, discovering his stash for the sixth time in our marriage, and I decided to divorce him. My mother-in-law said that a woman in her forties with two kids would never find another man. I told her that I'd rather be alone than lonely. I'm married 20 years now to a lovely, non-narcissist. Peace is possible, you don't have to continually feel degraded. You can actually feel appreciated. At 68 years old, my husband makes me feel desired. Imagine that!❤

I’m currently contemplating making my exit from my 4 year marriage. I’m married to a sex addict/narcissist. Our psychologist assessed us about a month ago. He argued with our counselor because he felt left out. He’s no longer counseling with her. He has been in a 12 step program for about 6 months and has an accountability partner. I recently caught him having an affair. He didn’t share with his group. I don’t trust him, or believe anything he says. I don’t think this will work. I have endured his rages for 4 years and I’m ready to leave. Lately his rages have become more aggressive and verbally abusive. I have my own counselor, thank goodness. She helps me keep things in perspective. You have amazing information and knowledge. I would like to get more info regarding your counsel in my situation. Thank you

I’m sorry to hear that. Your situation is similar with mine. Except I’ve been with my spouse for 16+ years. It was just a couple years ago when I realized I’m married to a narcissist. I had to do counseling to heal and restore my emotional health which in turn has affected my physical and mental health. I have 2 kids who have been deeply affected by the lack of love, emotional neglect, betrayal of this man. I’ve tried to leave, but due to my codependency issues, including financial and mental instability, I feel very incapable of raising my 2 kids on my own. I am better now than before but I feel very tired. I feel my energy has been reduced all these years. But I have more self love and awareness and boundaries, very very important. Now I’m looking and focus onto healing my children. I hope you find help and solution before it destroys you and the people you love. @DrDougWeiss, please help my family.

@DrDougWeiss3 жыл бұрын
I’m a recovering addict myself so I care and you do too in your recovery in the addiction. It’s not that the addict doesn't love or care at all (although in some cases it can be), it’s just that in the addiction other people take a lower place/priority in their lives. An addict can still love but as long as they don't work towards recovery, they don't care enough about others to fully stop the behavior, they care more about themselves. The more the person submits to their addiction (puts it first), the less they care (the less empathy they have) about those around them.

This! Wow. I was in a relationship with a guy who claimed his wife filed for divorce because he was sex addicted. He said he would have flashes of women in his head that would make him get to the point of complete dysfunction throughout the day and he would end up mast*rbating multiple times but the urge would never really go away. Being with him for 2 years + I was never mistreated sexually but he did have anger issues and was rather immature when it came to making decisions in his life. I loved him so much and was willing to work with his issues but he ended up returning to his wife and children, absolutely gutted. Now you have really just summed all of that in this 9 min video. I have so much better understanding of his situation now. I wished he knew how much I wanted to work with him on his issues.

20 years of pain and confusion, for me. Ive walked away a few times but i keep getting drawn back. I thought he was narcissistic, have bombarded my brain with info on narcissism as he displays the same symptoms with me but everybody else gets a completely different person, the wonderful sypportive person that he can be. I seem to be thee only one who is granted 0 care factor. This alone has made it even harder for me to understand what was going on for a long time. Lots of porn use by him, lack of intimacy and little to no empathy and every other immature symptom you just discussed. I have felt broken and alone and uncared for so many times throughout this relationship. He hasnt committed to counselling in the past, he hoes once or twice and then doesnt discuss it again. Theres always an excuse why he cant go. This topic gives me hope again, i just need to convince him it is worth looking at because he shuts any conversation down about how i am feeling,. He haa a nack of turning things around to avoid the "talks" MY question is, can you help me find or recommend a therapist in Melbourne Australia? If not, do you offer zoom appointments for international clients? Thankyou so much, Kelley 🙏

What you have experienced all these years his mistreatment is indeed heartbreaking and traumatic. Recovery is available to him but only if he chooses to get it. If he is unwilling, he will not get better and things will get worse. We have many useful sex addiction recovery resources at: www.sexaddict.com/sex-addiction-help-resources/ In regards to him being a different person to everyone else, check out intimacyanorexia.com and see if this applies as well. Regardless, you have experienced partner betrayal trauma in your relationship with him. You can start your own healing and support for yourself. We have partner betrayal trauma therapists available to help guide and encourage you through the process. While most of them are located in the US, we do have some in other countries. You can check out our AASAT website to see if there is one in your region: aasat.org/find-therapist/ Aside from that, we do offer phone counseling/groups and virtual counseling. You can contact us at 719-278-3708 and our staff can answer your questions in regards to this and how to get started. We also have a Partners Facebook support group you can join as well. Because it made me unattached cold towards him I felt no emotions towards him like if something in me switched... I stopped when I realised the big rabbit whole it can put you in from your brain wanting more and more and more to the feeling of not finding your partner attractive or not wanting to be intimate it was just scary of how it can mess up your mind and mess up the relationship as well. Then again drs will tell you its normal but then again why will pharma say any different if they make money from erectile disfunction and everything addiction comes with it. Fallow the money makes you wonder why its so accessible and free right at your finger tips...

Good day Doctor you speak so much sense, addictions are seem directly related to a childhood trauma and the root cause of insecurities, depression and projections of passive aggressive behavior. I recently broke it off with a 36 single mother that lacks the maturity to acknowledge and take responsibility for her hurtful behavior and can't take any constructive criticism without being told she's being bashed but meanwhile back at the ranch she constantly projects her fears. How can we fix this problem and heal our hurt?

Divorce him! Do not give your power away! Your husband is teaching you a lesson of self-respect and self-love. You deserve to be loved and respected. You must let him go in order to be free. He is your karmic contract. Once you realize what this connection is teaching you, the relationship will be over. I can guide you by giving you the necessary spiritual tools that will help you to get out of this toxic relationship. I do this for free. It is up to you to make the choice: a man with a title or an abused woman who used to be a prostitute. Think about it carefully because this decision can change the direction in your life. Whether positive or negative that is up to you as we all were born with a free will to choose.

Can Sex addict or NARCs fool an NMPI?
@DrDougWeiss11 ай бұрын
Not in my experience but the questions need to be worded precisely and the polygraph person being credible. If you need help with this, call the Heart To Heart Counseling Center office at 719-278-3708 to make an appointment to speak to a counselor.

Thank you. Do you do intensives for sex addicts with assessments then measurement testing for narcissism? Then do you coach the men on changing habits such as DARVO so they can build emotional intimacy with their betrayed partners?

First of all of us have narcissistic traits and narcissism is not a diagnosis for a mental illness. Like most other personality issues it is on a continuum. Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental illness. The person doesn't have to be diagnosed to do a lot of damage in relationships. I've been with somatic types and the evil crappie did behind my back is Way Beyond just the sex addiction and it has very little to do with sex it just has to do with thrill-seeking and attention-getting. My ex is now in prison and is a sex offender so I can tell the difference between a sex addict who feels remorse and a narcissist who doesn't mind hurting people at all. The big tip-off to whether a person is high and narcissistic traits is their ability to take accountability. They never admit to a fault or any wrong and probably not going to go see you for help. Not all sex addicts are narcissists but I don't believe it stands on its own I believe all addiction disorders are caused from a deeper issue but that's just an opinion

ALL human beings do not have narcissistic traits … all humans have the ability to be selfish or self-centered but that is not the same as being on the narcissistic spectrum. Also, if you truly have narcissistic personality disorder, it is exactly that - a personality disorder. Personality disorders are not the same as mental illness but they are all [mental illnesses and personality disorders] diagnosed through the DSM (the diagnostic manual for therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc). I only say this because there is so much disinformation and a narcissist likes to use the idea that “everyone” is a narcissist to gaslight and emotionally abuse the victim.

What do you think of going to a therapist, mention there maybe sex addiction and the therapist sanctioning polyamory or viewing pornography? Siding with the possible narc or addict...

in other words, what I was trying to say is he does not think he has a problem with any of this- so he isnt going to get tested or talk with anyone- I was just trying to learn so I can cope= oh and he is also a alcoholic- I forgot that- we have zero relationship- he drinks alone outside at night about 3-4 times a week- he is a Functional Alcoholic though- he works- He says SEX withme SUCKS cause I am boring- and he says he has to take care of himself (so he uses Porn) Cause I wont take care of him- hes said this statement for YEARS. LATELY I have noticed a NEW Characteristic- PARANOID- I took him to a BdayHotel Weekend- just us- to be away thought we could have good SEX- he would not TALK about what feels good to me or anything- cause he was WORRIED about people hearing in the hallway or through the walls at the HOTEL???? so WEIRD- We got married at age 28 =we are now upper 40s / early 50s- I was telling him I have to rev up to getting turned on- a women takes more time - he was telling me this is BORING- and NOT to Insult his "Manhood" by telling him what makes me feel good- he said he has made MANY Women feel good- I SAID- YES, but that was back in your 20s- we are older - he is offended - he makes fun of me and so on- he is super kind to any outside people and super rude to me and kids- I am currently in a PHASE where he is IGNORING Me- so I was doing some research.

This is never spoken about! Perhaps, my hundreds of video viewing's on narcissism from various different sources are INCORRECT? I am a very sexual woman (healthy) but th man I am involved with, the sex with so many others, his view of sex, how he views HIMSELF as a male sexual person is OFF! you shared with me that he was sexually abused as a child and as an early adolescent? perhaps narcissism is not the diagnosis....
