I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to Colt to manufacturing ww1 or ww2 style 1911s again. Hopefully, CZ will step up Colt’s quality control.

I have a Cajunized SP-01 that is rock solid. Simply the best ergos of any handgun I have ever handled, and the trigger on it, since it was converted to SAO by Cajun Gun Works, is amazing. She's fast, flat, and accurate, and as reliable as the sunrise. I am pretty fond of my CZ.

CZ and Colt have a little bit of collaboration history together. I believe CZ was waiting until Colt got weak enough to be worth purchasing simply for the fact that the Colt name brand is fairly well known in the Czech Republic even more so than other iconic brands like Smith & Wesson and the 1911 platform is also pretty popular over there. AR-15s have become popular over there in the last 10 or so years so I think that the main reason why they purchased them is to actually export a lot of Colt products to the Czech Republic.

I have been a Colt fan all my life but quality starting suffering all the way back to the mid 70s. My buddy and I each bought new pythons and AR-15s and both pythons and 1 AR could not even be taken to the range out of the box. We had to send them back to service center for repairs first. It was not a good sign for the future of Colt.

I feel like colt at the moment only makes guns for collectors these days. One point I have is 1700$ for a new colt single action army is pretty steep considering that you can get a Ruger valquero for half the price or a uberti for even less. And the quality is the same, if not better.
@82lowe36id2 жыл бұрын
Sure hope CZ puts people in place that can turn Colt around. Not hearing good things though. Hearing CZ is letting Colt take over CZ-USA and all Colt management is taking over. Does not give me a good feeling. Also been told that CZ-USA manufacturing will move to Colt facility that is very outdated.

Yes, the war in Ukraine is very close, yet the westernmost location of the fighting is as far away from the CZ factory (which is located in the easternmost part of the Czech Republic) as London. Europe is small and everything is relatively close. At the same time, I feel that many people think that the Czech Republic is further east and "closer to Moscow" than it actually is. :D

This opens the door to abolish firearms without a 2a violation. If they ban foreign manufacturers ( ie. 1994). And foreign companies are buying domestic firearm manufacturers. Suddenly we find ourselves with no guns being allowed in the country and no violation of the 2a would happen. The term cz America is merely a division of a foreign owned company. Simple things like declaring a threat to national security would cripple imports but would have no effect for domestic mfgs. If there were any left still owned domestically.

Horribly managed since the 1960's and badly managed for 40 years prior to that. Always late to the party and since the mid 70's came with an ugly date. They've been reactionary to market swings and not proactive. Good to hear they are back in the black rifle business. Now offer a working, affordable SAA in 357 and 45 for SASS. Reintroduce a SA convertible 22lr/WMR. Then a new pocket, polymer 9.

" Bad management" is just that, and as new blood comes in, i.e. CZ, then COLT should ( in this case ) take a back seat in day to day operations. The "old managers" ( I keep hearing of ) should be dismissed from any of the executive decision making in this 'new' group. Remington's story must surely be fresh in everybody's mind here. The above may be rather blunt, but it is NOT personal, it is just simply 'business'. I fully understand that this comment of mine is a tad after the fact,.. but then, so is this little story from GN & R, isn't it, as interesting to think of as it is.

I am determined to NEVER purchase a Colt firearm. Why? Not because of the quality or characteristics of their guns but because of the behavior of the company. At least TWICE Colt has declared bankruptcy; that action left those who purchased their bonds with significant losses; many of them, like myself, were senior citizens. Colt's actions may have been legal, but they no doubt alienated many who were shooting enthusiasts and who TRUSTED Colt to keep its promises. When there are many reputable firearms manufacturers out there, why purchase a Colt firearm?

Colt is a failed Company and has been for years. They won’t make products customers want, and give nothing but excuses. What major firearms manufacturer doesn’t offer a 22 rimfire ? Who owns the name to the Single Action Army and can barely make one caliber in one finish only? They misread the market constantly. They reintroduced the da revolvers and total blew the concealed market with confusing names . The Cobra should have been a plus p rated alloy frame 38 . A steel frame Detective Special next. Then instead of a King Cobra on a D frame, they should have brought out a vent rib Diamondback in 2 1/2 inch or 3 inch in 38/357, and a 4 inch , as well as a 4 a d 6 inch 22. At the height of ccw, they dropped the380 pistols , and allowed other manufacturers to clone them. They should have brought out a beefed up Mini Government version with 3 1/2 barrel ,7 round mag in 9 minor maybe a double stack 10 round , like S&W did . Bring back the 22 Peacemaker. Years ago I suggested to them they bring out a beefed up 1908, polymer frame striker fired pistol in 9 mm, with external ambi safety and mag release. Crickets chirping. One can hope they may wake up with new management, but I doubt it
