My partner isn't sympathetic either as a guy who is bald! He's being a jerk! Men have my sympathy when they begin to lose hair often in their 20's. I am a VERY EMPATHETIC PERSON, having struggled with bad complexion, flat chested, etc. Facial hair- electrolysis is a scam. I went for years- wish I had the money back for that "trip to Paris" I longed for as an Art History grad...live and learn. I follow an amazing Dutch barber on here, Rene, HFDZ CHANNEL- he does women, buzzes them with such skill, down to Buddhist nun, if you have the courage- I don't and a phrenologist those Victorian "quacks" who supposedly diagnosed personality, illness and your future by feeling the bumps on your head...Nope, I love the looks he creates but a Jean Seburg pixie is the shortest I want to go...Namaste from Down in the Dumps at Being, Up There, I never wanted to get old- genetics are against me there. My mom, father, and maternal grandparents lived to 90, my father, and 103, my gran- I can't relate. Whenever I did volunteer work at mid age I was always popular with the teens- I got along with everybody, I think emotional illness can be a form of enlightenment to a point...

My hair began shedding significantly after an extremely stressfull period in my life. So, I researched the internet & decided to experiment with the litttleextra coocoonion hair oil & a comb made of neem wood. The results definitely worked. At present, my hair is long, dense, black hair which has grown down to my waist and cut off on three occasions after I started. Simple & effective. Also, equally good is rubbing your scalp - it encourages the growth. You just must do this once a week. Before long, you will see short hairs starting to grow.

I'm 48 and just finding out that I have PCOS. My HRT doctor says that the decline in Estrogen in Peri and Meno means the high DHEA can mean the Androgens have *more impact*, than when we had higher Estrogen earlier in life. Hormone influences apparently impact based on their Ratios and Balances. Kind of like a One-Sided Teeter-totter... And DHEA can convert into Testosterone which then converts to DHT (the hair loss triggering Androgen). I also had hair loss with Prednisone Treatment. Not sure how much was Prednisone and how much was having Pancolitis (IBD can take over all 6 feet of colon).

Joint pain and inflammation leaning to stiffness. Carpal tunnel symptoms in my hands. The list is wayyy to long to continue. Thank you for this. I started losing tons of hair in the shower recently which freaked me out. But about four months ago I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy, guessing either from stress or a severe allergic reaction to a perm I received the night before. Either way I'm guessing this is the reason for losing a large amount of my hair😞

Hi Dr. Dray, I’m really happy to have found your channel! I’m addicted to your videos!! Thanks. I have a quick question: In the case of a hair loss due to stopping and beginning birth control pills in a small period of time, like 3 months... does the hair grow back to its normal growth rate and stop falling after a while? Or is that a permanent hair loss?

Last year my hair randomly started falling out about 3 months into my 6 month study abroad. 3 months after I returned home (so 6 months after the hair loss started) it stopped. I was freaking out the whole time and talking to my PCP and endocrinologist about it but they didn't really have many answers for me. I had bloodwork done and my PCP recommended an iron supplement as well as B3 and Vitamin C. I started taking those and about 2 weeks later my hair stopped falling out but I don't attribute it to that because I wasn't taking them long enough to see a difference, and am not taking them regularly now and my hair is no longer falling out. I'm also on a number of meds including thyroid meds, antidepressants and birth control, but I have not switched any of those up in many years so I don't think it was from that either. All this to say that it can be hard to identify the cause but if your hair has only been falling out for a few months, don't freak out just yet because it is very possible it will go away on its own. From my research online I was able to figure out that it was probably telogen effluvium but I'm not sure what the cause was except for maybe the stress of going abroad, since the hair loss started 3 months after I left home.

Amara Young , thank you for posting your story. I had skin cancer surgery on my nose that was very stressful. I had long thick hair and about three months later it just started coming out in my brush and I noticed so much in the drain when I washed it. It has been shedding a lot for about two months now and is not stopping. I’ve probably lost about 30% of volume. Just reading your story gave me hope that this is what it is and that it will stop eventually and start to re-grow. Im not on any meds but i started collagen, iron and biotin recently. Did yours start growing back in and you had a lot a little hairs sticking up for awhile? It shed for six months?

I’m so frustrated. I am on Vitamin D2 50,000 IU weekly, take thyroid medication once daily, and my hair around my back crown is thinning a lot. My hairdresser noted a reddening of my scalp around the area. My brother has psoriasis in his scalp in his twenties. My mother in her 60’s has lost enough to see her scalp through her hair really well. My thyroid levels are normal too. I have complex regional pain syndrome that has carried on since 2017, but the hair loss has been noticeable this year. I did have a blood clot in my leg last year and took Eliquis, but am now only on Aspirin daily. I take Topamax for migraines. Why is my hair falling out!!! I have two autoimmune diseases, endometriosis and CRPS. HELP before I’m bald in my crown. I have always had really thick hair, not anymore.
