Dre’s injury was so heartbreaking. Even if the 49ers came out with the win, it would still be a loss because Dre is still injured and needs time to recover for next season. Whoever says Dre was dumb for getting injured, it’s not his fault. He is the tone setter, showing passion for the game, he is a true football player and leader. And, he had been dealing with an Achilles injury prior to this rupture, so playing through pain for his team is what makes him special. His contract expires this season so I hope the 49ers will still keep him while being able to pay Brock Purdy appropriately. Prayers up for Dre.

Was tough seeing seeing George and Deebo sitting on the sideline, not being able to do anything, but we rise as a team, and we fall as a team. Still, a great game from Kansas City. That's exactly what happened to me back in 2009. My buddies and I were messing around and doing sprint races, I got a bad start and my leg didn't go where I was planning on putting it, I heard an audible pop, felt a sharp tearing pain in my left knee and immediately fell down. I tried to get back up and my entire left leg was shaky and felt like it was made of Jello. Went to the ER, got pain meds and crutches, and scheduled an MRI for later in the week. It turned out that I had complete tears of the ACL and MCL.

Whenever I see a non-contact injury like that, I have to believe the body part (left Achilles tendon in this case) was already frayed and on the verge of breaking. When the non-contact injury happens during game action, practice, or an awkward-looking movement, we can at least say the injury followed an unusual high-stress load. In this case, there was nothing obvious: an ordinary little hop, plant, push...and down. It even looks like his weight was mostly over his right knee when the injury happened. Maybe he made an unusual move earlier in the game that partially tore the Achilles so that it was on a hair trigger. But the action that tore his Achilles was ordinary.
