1. Start using battlecry “The Emperor lives!” against the orks. 2. Work with the Mechanicus to modify the Golden Throne into a mobile device. 3. Install it in a Warhound Titan. 4. Release the Empernaught!
@lazarus04204 жыл бұрын
Not sure that would work as the adepts who care for the Golden thron have slowly lost the ability to maintain many of its parts and lack the understanding of them to modify or upgrade it at all. That and there is the very real possability that any tinkering could Kill the Emperor and destroy the golden throne That said it would be pretty cool seeing a Dreadnought specifically built for the Emperor, Probly be more akin to to a small Titan like a Warhound or a Large Knight

That would doom Terra, there were 2 reasons why the Emperor was interred in the Golden Throne. Sure it keeps him alive-ish, but he's also needed there to hold closed the entry to the web way that Magnus broke.
@libertyfirst92804 жыл бұрын
EloquentTroll though Terra itself is not all that important. It’s the idea that it represents, the same idea that the Emperor represents. The loss of Terra would only be catastrophic if everything on it were lost in one fell swoop. If this were planned in advance, Terra could be evacuated and all valuable resources taken followed by planet cracking Exterminatus for good measure and denying chaos the planet. The rest of the Sol system could be dealt with the same way if the anticipated warp rift is that big. If not, Mars becomes a new Cadia. If so, chuck the void dragon into the warp and see what happens!

I see why the quote re. Ancient Curval appealed to you so much as a dreadnut. :) The most remarkable thing about him is that he was seemingly interred *before* the fall of the legion and therefore adopted his deviant philosophical and religious outlook *as a dreadnought*. What a great character, so briefly used in a novel casually dismissed by so many!
@Baldermort4 жыл бұрын
But the quote was amazing! Even more eye-opening as it shows his jealousy and need to be involved somehow, as we discussed before - but that he developed these ideas when encased in the sarcophagus - now that is amazing. Just amazing. Thank you for sharing it, brother. :) I am indeed a dreadnut. Unabashedly so. :)
@andilucas69264 жыл бұрын
@@Baldermort - I went back to the audiobook to check my belief that Curval was a dreadnought BEFORE the fall to Slaanesh, and can confirm that this is indeed correct. The invading Iron Hands officer recognises the ancient when he sees him, although the casing is now covered in hideous quasi-organic gold filigree - a "walking altar". He remembers Ancient Curval from the Great Crusade as "a philosopher of the war, one who spoke of perfection and loss in equal measure". Since it does have the remains of a body a dreadnought can of course still take drugs (the occupant is permanently stuffed full of drip feeds and injectors just to keep him alive), it can still see and hear and perhaps it can still dream. Poor Curval - if the dull sons of Ferrus Manus hadn't murdered him, he would surely have evolved into a Hellbrute over time and perhaps been granted the ability to feel sensation again by his new god.

@@Baldermort I look forward to it with obscene eagerness! I imagine he recites ever more complex and unspeakable Sadean scenarios of murderous perversion along the lines of the 'Circle of Blood' in the 120 Days, which are then enacted by the legion and their crazed mortal victim-devotees while he watches. My own counts-as-Deredeo is Ancient Minski, a former pupil of Curval :) I've not settled on a Sadean name for the Sonic Dreadnought yet...

(Edit: one *must* check out the Damnation Crusade comics for an amazing Dreadnought! edit of my edit: it almost cheapens it to call it a comic, the Damnation Crusade is essentially a graphic novel! By Dan Abnett, if I can recommend it to you further!) A short and sweet fiction at the beginning, don't know if it will match the absolute *insanity* of the Night Lords intro, though. Dreadnoughts...what an idea, haunting. The notion of waking one up, and having them tell you anecdotes, tips, tales. I had an idea about a Dark Angels Dreadnought being awoken, one who was the only one besides another who had some vital knowledge, then telling a tale of or dropping a hint about the Fallen. Poat script edit: what an idea to explore in future! Waking up a venerable dreadnought of the chapter you are highlighting and delivering some of the history sort of through their eyes. That woukd be so cool Grats for 3K. I know we will see 40K i have a feeling. ...hope it's not borne from the warp, wait...why are you looking at me like that?

Is there something I'm missing? Do White Scars hate dreadnaughts? I'm an Iron Hands fan and know being interned is something all of them strive for.
@Okutox4 жыл бұрын
@@nukedukem4260 it's culturally taboo to white scars to be entombed in a dread as youre no longer free to roam the steppe and its seen as a creepy undeath. The rare few dreads the white scars have are kept out of mind and sight and guard the gene seed stocks.
@Baldermort4 жыл бұрын
Yep. Scars are definitely against them for the reasons you state. Some others do not like it either. But most see it as an honour. Got to go with the baseline fluff. It also means that entries for other chapters we can mention their differences in view and tradition. But you have to have the baseline before the others can have 'colour' if you will. Thanks for updating the other Brother Okutox. :)

@@Baldermort yes I have and I watch it repeatedly ! The one piece of art work I would love to see done is Grimaldus walking down the corridor of the crashed star ship dragging his croxius down the wall screeching and sparking then stepping out of the dark in the full armour of a chaplain of the Black Templar's and roaring " Now we begin" and powering up the croxius. Tell me that doesn't set the fire of zeal alight.

If a wounded space marine can pilot a dreadnought shouldn't a fit one be able to pilot a knight???+++
@michaelmurphy27864 жыл бұрын
The Knights arent technically part of the Imperium as they are under the exclusive control of the Mechanicum, and a Space Marine is extremely unlikely to even contemplate the ritual to bond you with the Knight due to what happens in the ritual. The Knight can and will reprogram its pilots minds to make them more loyal to the Mechanicum itself not the Imperium as its a different connection to the MIU's used by Dreadnoughts, so while a Techmarine and some of the Chapters tied too closely to the Mechanicum might consider it in extremes, the majority wouldnt.
@Baldermort4 жыл бұрын
Wayne Haygood right, good question. But the disciplines, connectors etc are very different. Even ignoring how to get this past the tech adepts. Knight and Titan pilots are one in a trillion. Weird but true. :). But that’s only my opinion. I am never the ‘know it all’. I know only as much as most long standing players. I just have a weird way of looking at things and a wish to entertain. :).

Brotherhood Of nod no, no. He/they are just expressing themselves. It’s ok. I have a pet hater who gives most of my vids a down thumb since day dot. It’s actually quite a compliment. I’ve started to get offended when I don’t get that one down thumb now. I miss it. :(. He didn’t down thumb my crimson fists yet and I’m wondering what I did wrong that he missed it. :). Thanks for sticking up for me brother, but it’s cool. I have only two rules. 1. Anyone can insult me - but not a brother. If they do that they get a polite request to wind it in or get blocked. 2. No nastiness about a faction on their video. Same situation. If people want to vent they can. But on their video or elsewhere. Here, we’re a brother+sisterhood who just love the setting and games. We’re all just fans of Warhammer. I’m no different or special. Same. All of us. I’m only saying it in case some tears into me. If they do then just ignore it. It’s not worth your time or effort brother. They’re just stressed. I mean who can be bothered to flame Warhammer if they aren’t stressed in the first place. But tell me you saw the Commissar video? It’s one of my favourites. Honestly. I love it myself. (Sad that I am). Plus what do the guard need putting on the list for introductions? Your shot brother. I’ll get it done within the fortenight. ;).

After watching all 3 of the videos, Dreadnoughts are the one which I wholly agree with. Drop pods feel normal enough for sci fi and landraiders are just tanks. As someone who has loved the lore for over a decade without ever playing the miniatures game, I'd like to submit the Battleship and Bolter as the most Warhammer thing about Warhammer (space marines aside). The soaring cathedrals on a star ship are the most unique ship design I've ever encountered and nothing like a grenade launcher as a hand gun.
