I might be showing my age, but the whole video I was trying to remember where I had heard the Fra'al before for an alien race. Lo and behold, it's another TSR property, the gold old Star Frontier universe! I wonder if there's an old TSR-GW relation to the lore? Lot's of stuff from D&D got used for Warhammer Quest which became Warhammer Fantasy which became 40k.

The fraal appeared as a playable race in the pre- wizards of the coast TSR ttrpg Alternity back in the late 90's.

The entry for the Fra'al speculates that their enthusiasm for exploration led them to send scouts to visit Earth in the past, sightings of which led to the popular image of aliens as short, slim, big-eyed "Greys".

A fascinating race and a briliant story! I am enamoured by theyriad of minor xenos races that yet exist in the galaxy, hidden from Imperial Eyes, and emphasising that for all the powers of the Imperium, Chaos, amd the other powers, the Galaxy is yet a large, unknown place, filled with such a womderful eclectic ensemble of races! I would certainly love to field an army of Fra'al raiders, and whet the glass blades on some Imperial battlegroups!

I _had_ heard of the Fra'al, but knew naff all about them except for the psykers and starships that used old Necron Destroyer parts (I used to have one of those old Destroyers), classic 40K was / is still wild. A more warp based esoteric faction would be quite awessome to see! I never quite felt that the chaos gods where rly eldrich horrors because they are quite understood and... also a bit basic? Like blood sacrifices n such its very typical abrahamic deamonic. a truely alien faction akin to the tyranids would be awessome but with a bit of warp flavour instead. Yuvath fx is a nice example.

You know, G.W. really missed a good opportunity to expand the fan base by not doing a cross over with war thunder or at least making a game like it. Can you imagine what it'd be like to field a Baneblade tank while being flanked by a pair of land raiders and a whirlwind tank running long range support? The only thing missing would be a little commissar poking out of the top of a tank yelling "Drive closer, u want to hit them with my sword!". 😁 And I whole heartedly agree that these guys should be a new faction in the setting, if only to offset the Tau.
