Moral of the story: most people don't understand advanced humor.
@shadowatch47672 жыл бұрын
Eh, I'd amend this as *some* people don't understand advanced humor. Which is understandable, because sometimes it takes context that not everybody has. And in general a large group of people will never 100% understand things or interpret things the same way, that's practically a law of human nature and should be taken into consideration in these situations even if there's a reasonable expectation that they try to understand before engaging.

@shadowatch47672 жыл бұрын
@@ApexB2Strong Well... I do believe that always going against the crowd is a position too far in the opposite direction. Mob mentality is bad, but to say that something must be wrong if most people believe it is right is a rather irrelevant way of looking at things. In the grand scheme the crowd doesn't matter, because it's just the sum of everyone else's opinions. So whether you begin with going with the crowd or going against the crowd, you're letting the crowd shape your opinion before you have any good, independent reason for that opinion. Disregarding the crowd and starting from a neutral position is best for not letting other people's opinions misguide you. All that I meant to say by my last comment is that there will always be some people out of a big category (dream followers, soccer enthusiasts, musicians, the French, etc.) who for some reason or another don't get [the joke], for no fault of their own. And [the joke] will always be confused and occasionally be controversial to their minds for that reason. Replace [the joke] with pretty much anything said or done that depends on context to be fully understood, and this rule applies. Like how I included the French in that list. "Why the French?" Asks the first Frenchman. "They must hate us French, then!" The second Frenchman declares angrily, neither understanding [the joke]. And that's how I was exiled from France by an angry mob of French nationalists.

Why is it acceptable and celebrated to be offended FOR someone else. I agree, if an incident occurred where malice and hate were meant to destroy someone's life that person needs to be called out, but being able to determine if a single statement is full of malice or sarcasm between close friends is almost impossable. If you don't have a friend you can make horrible but joking comments too in an exchange of friendly banter without feelings getting hurt you need to find that person in your life. indeed life is too serious ... we all need more joking around with each other ... lighten up more ... and perhaps expose any groups that try to dramatize or "cancel" individuals ... because we are all in the same boat! (same planet etc)

I'm so happy to see the "hate dream and all of his fans" trend has subsided (at least in the KZbin comments) By the term fans I mean FANS, not STANS -- because I literally would comment something short and nice and be ATTACKED for appreciating Dream or any MCYTer. But I see so many people who are supportive here of Dream and it's great to see. Jokes are jokes, I'm gay and Twitter getting angry at everything is just ABSURD. Dream and many other MCYTers have been outspokenly inclusive and progressive over the course of being online -- they've provided a safe space for MANY gay teens. Just happy to see people on Dream's side for this, he didn't do anything wrong

Lots of ppl are just looking for attention and want to drag anyone and everyone down with them cuz, it makes them feel better about ther sad pathetic lives XD.

People are just too hypersensitive nowadays. You and many other people have to walk on eggshells with people, constantly. I used to have a dream to be a content creator. But I personally am worried about stuff like this happening to me as well. Bc people don’t know what a joke is. People say “that joke isn’t funny.” Nah, it’s funny, just they get offended like we insulted your entire family name… humanity’s feelings are in shambles.

The fact ppl have to defend everything they post is dumb. People dont get that ppl have sense of humors. especially with your friends or family. You can say all kinds of things and not mean a thing by it. And people say dumb things when younger to and everyone thinks they should hold it against someone for their whole lives even tho that s not them anymore
@Reddwarf102 жыл бұрын
The fact you need to make a 50min video to explain maybe means your "jokes" are not easily interpreted?! Pull your head out, you're posting in a public forum not just to Ant or your friends. People will be effected. Just because my partner is of a certain ethnicity does that mean i can post wildly racist comments, and then when people are offended say "haha i was talking to a specific person even though i posted to everyone and gave no clarification as to my meaning or intentions and was wildly ambiguous"..!

I fully agree. I am married to a fantastic woman. I wouldn't say I'm gay or straight. I think sexuality is fluid and not fixed. there's lots of people who get incorrectly offended at things that could be offensive to others. I have friends who I joke about in similar fashion. I dish out short jokes to a 5ft tall friend. he dishes fat jokes to me all in good fun. best of luck dream and ant. (if you need a sixth player for man hunts.... how do I apply? would be good to have an Aussi accent on your streams 🤣)

Of course, on the Cheating front, you're never going to escape that stigma necessarily, the specter will be there if you ever do anything Speedrunning related. Because you did Cheat. And you reacted very poorly originally, causing all sorts of problems. But I'm sure eventually the stain will fade a bit, and any runs you do will be under more scrutiny than others, but I'm sure eventually you'll be able to get out of it's shadow. As for the Twitter events, like, honeslty, it wasn't all that bad. I could tell it was a joke, because I watch Manhunt and know Antfrost is a friend, so you are clearly joking. But, it is an example of the penalty of being a large creator. Your public statements, on Twitter and anywhere else, will be scrutinized and taken out of context, because you do have a larger following, which amplifies you on Twitter. It was an unwise thing to say, but clearly a joke. Ultimately, it's all just maturing and growing as a person.

I find it curious, how people who profess themselves to be the anti hate police and start to attack people left and right and even try to ruin their reputation are never considered hateful. They are more or less carelessly take the chance of ruining another persons carrier and apparently don't even care enough who they target. It's almost like: You can't touch dirt, without getting dirty yourself. You can't fight hate (as your main agenda) without turning hateful. Oh I just remember this saying: If you stare too long into darkness, don't forget, darkness stares into you as well.

3:55. With the second tweet, you messed up and had no sincerity or remorse (besides the negative social implications). Sharing certain rhetorics and jokes with close friends over social media doesn't excuse you from the controversy you receive. Someone ignorant of that relationship will see and identify it as true, as that's all the information you presented upon release. It's your responsibility as an influencer to know the perception anything you upload may have on your audience (which for someone of your caliper is the world). I just don't understand the point of mentioning the controversy without thought, amendment, and resolution. Might as well have skipped over it. I don't really watch or dislike you but I think it would be a good idea to hear this point; while it sucks people may not understand your intentions-- it is not their responsibility to-- someone with an influence is responsible for making their audience completely aware of all necessary information on the forefront (or even in a video like this but at least acknowledging your blunder). Anyway, I'm off, kinda lost interest after typing that lmao.
