Now if you are looking to upgrade or thinking of purchasing a hammock for the very first time. Then getting that hammock that would work best for you may be a little confusing and also challenging. The first thing you should be thinking about or researching. Is getting one that fits you. The right length and width. Then you will want to consider. What situation you will be using it for. Hanging out at a park or a beach. For camping or you may want to use it on your next hiking trip. And then you would want to know what conditions you may face. Like biting insects or you may want to try winter camping. Then you would want to have a hammock that would provide protection against a cold wind coming at you.
In this hammock review, we are going to look at a gathered end hammock that can handle all of the above and more.

That was a great review, my friend. I have the exact same hammock. Unfortunately I ordered it early on in my hammock camping, so I got a double layer. I weigh about 220, and thought that I needed the extra material. I recently bought a single layer Chamaeleon and a single layer halfwit. I could not believe the difference in comfort. It helped alleviate calf-ridge. Thank you so much for all your wonderful hammock videos. I know a lot of work goes into creating one of those. And I want you to know that I really appreciate it. I smiled when you said lie instead of lay. Us old timers actually had grammar in school. I think we are the only two that say right lie instead of a right lay. A chicken lays an egg but we lie down. Lol God bless you. John

Thank you for sharing that John. Unless someone is always going to use a foam mat and never a under quilt. Or they are over 300 lbs. One should always get a single layer. Bridge hammocks are a different story. The Chameleon and the Half-Wit are great hammocks. And that's no lie. Lol! God Bless.

I love my dream hammock. What I love more is after I think 7 years, maybe 8 ask Randy he remembers my hammock. Night grid cammo over marpat. A dl thunderbird which isn't offered anymore. I need to do a video showcasing this which has the longgevity. Randy I hope will make my wife a hammock that she loves as much as I love my own! Ty my friend for understanding what we as outdoor people want and need to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable experience. I need to express...I'm almost 58 years old....I'm an outdoor person since my parents started me at the age of 3. . If you are asking do I go tent or hammock.....yea, get a hammock and my friend..my thunderbird came with the hooks, the bug mesh and the top. . My heads to the right, my feet to the left and my heart is all in between!

Dream hammocks are completely customizable .Probably the best around . The chameleon is a very close copy of the Dream hammock but the hand crafting on the Sparrow is unbeatable. Too bad for the lack of patents enforcement. Dream hammock were the innovators IMHO. Thanks for a great in depth review and great camera work 😉👌

I would have to agree with you on that Ricardo Neto. There are a few hammock companies that are innovators and always coming up with new things. And I really appreciate it. But because of the customizability. I would give Dream Hammock the edge.

The mosquito sounds effects struck fear in me! Always love your instruction and insights. I would love to travel to some places where I could sleep with my net unzipped/off, but South Louisiana has precious few nights without skeeters or some kind of biting critter that wants to camp with you. The net helps keep it a little warmer then. Also, your cold weather camping vids are amazing! Thanks Marine 😄👍

@@AdventureswiththeMarine summer is going well I have slept out back a number of times, in fact last week I used my DIY Costco Underquilt and it worked fine albeit I need to finish the shock cords on the ends. Also finally got out on an overnight trip on the Pinchot Trail in NE PA. This was the first time I actually used my setup on the trail and what a learning experience. About 45 minutes to where I was going to camp a brutal thunderstorm came up and upon reaching my site the rain continued to pour. So I did my first set up in the rain which was a challenge but I got the job done and everything was fine. It rained throughout the night but I stayed dry. Thanks for asking.

Hey, so what width did you end up getting on your Sparrow? I am around 1.82m tall (6 foot) and weigh around 80kg (176 pounds), thin body type "ectomorph". I think I'm gonna go with a 64" width. This is going to be my very first hammock, never tried one before. I don't know if I'm right or left lay and can't really try a hammock right now, so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a symmetrical bug net. I asked Randy and the hammock body itself isn't cut asym/sym, it's the top cover that gives it a sym or asym shape, so I could always buy a symmetrical bugnet/cover afterwards once I figure out how I behave in a hammock! I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with a Sparrow, the only other hammock I was thinking about is a Dutchware Chameleon (you can also get a custom width on a Chameleon for 10$ extra). Which one do you think would be the most comfortable (comfort is the only thing that matters to me, frankly)? Thanks a lot!
@AdventureswiththeMarine
@AdventureswiththeMarine 2 жыл бұрын
I would favor the the Dream Hammock Sparrow. With your height being 1.82m and weighing around 80kg. I would really suggest that you up the width to either 66" or 68" if you plan on sleeping overnight in it. I have hammocks with different widths. So far. Everyone has agreed that the wider is much better. Also, I would definitely get your bug net cut asymmetrical. ( it makes the hammock have a awesome view and very good ventilation )That is a big reason why the sparrow is a great hammock. If you are right handed. Then get a right lay. If you are left handed. Then get a left lay. You would be comfortable either way. If you have any other thoughts. Please let me know.
