Looks amazing. Two questions though - How is it for rain sound? Can you still work in a storm? And what's the deal with planning permission for throwing a wooden studio up in your garden? Thanks 😄 x
@iambradarthur3 жыл бұрын
Hi Aimee, thanks for your questions, so It's got good sound absorption but not incredible sound proofing, so if it's raining or stormy it will pick up some of the sound, (depending on which mic you use) but it's never been that bad and i often power down the studio if there will be lightning anyway, to protect from a power surge. Working in the rain has been fine and actually very mellow/ inspiring. For the planning permission, because we put it on a sled we can technically call it portable if we needed to and its out of the way from pretty much everyone/thing as we don't live in a busy area. If we made something bigger and more permanent we would probably need to apply for planning. If it is below a certain size or is portable then you don't need planning but it depends on the rules in your area.

@iambradarthur4 жыл бұрын
hahaaaaah yeah it 's crazy how it affects it, the water in the pool video is really good at giving a visual representation. When you become aware of the difference in sound you can't unhear it. It's so significant. haha just gimme a shout haha yeah it's marvellous, the only thing i haven't seen yet is northern lights above the studio but I'm sure it will happen soon. when the stars do come out on a clear night it's stunning. Where are you from? it's totally worth the trip if you can make it. :)
@MyChannel-on9wc4 жыл бұрын
@@iambradarthur ah the Northern lights must look amazing irl. I'm in Austin, Texas so we don't get anything like that here. The city lights dim out the majority of the stars
@iambradarthur4 жыл бұрын
@@MyChannel-on9wc I'm yet to see them actually, I keep missing them so it's definitely on the list. The northern islands of Scotland seem to be the best place to catch them. Ahhh I see, i've never been to America but I can imagine so :) one day

Isn't formaldehyde a problem with so much plywood?
@iambradarthur3 жыл бұрын
not as far as I am aware, it seems that the levels are high immediately after the plywood has been made in the factory but they drop very quickly to a minimal/neutral level thereafter. It is a very common material used in build projects globally so I imagine it would have been regulated to an appropriate level of safety.

Amazing job! Can i ask u the avarage budget of the acoustics insulation?
@iambradarthur3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alessandro, so this room probably coast around £200-£250 for all of the materials combined.
@AlessandroMedri3 жыл бұрын
@@iambradarthur hi and thank u for the reply! 200/250? Are you sure? Cause you used a lot of woods and insulation panel + correction stuff. It’s a lot of supplies... Ok you spare on labour, but idk, if i take a look over the net searching for this kind of supplies i have to add a zero, at least, for a full room like yours. I asked a quotation by a local audio insulation supplier and for a 3x4 square meters room it’ll cost me 7000€, without labour, just the supply. A major difference tween your project and mine is the drywall instead of woods, inside an existing room (where i live drywall is cheaper then wood). But beyond that, the project is the same: floating floor, thick wall and cieling insulation. Thank you!

I quit watching this video after 2 minutes. It's a low budget for millionaires. But I'm pretty sure the end result of this studio is excellent!
@iambradarthur Жыл бұрын
hey man thanks for watching! I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to do it but we are certainly not millionaires by any means and this studio compared to most professional studios is definitely a budget build. £5-6k for the materials to build in total, some pros will spend double that on one microphone.
