I think everyone sees how this reflects ross joining the band. I mean, ross showing up with an application then the rest of the members laughing is basically showing that ross thinks the other members might doubt his musical talent. normally dreams show what has been on a persons mind, so ross could've possibly been worrying about his placement/rank in the band. plus the bowtie thing. yk, they all wear ties. coincidental?
