I would do a tall black or white storage cabinet with doors to hide all the appliances and get rid of the island or place it in the corner and put the island next to it if you need it to cook and put more decorative bowls coffee cups and beautiful cook wear as less of a eye sore of items just out and about. Then put contact paper on the counter tops and maybe the same contact paper on the kitchen island top. 😊 Love how this turned out! My kitchen is almost identical to yours and I have that same dark color. 😅😂 I hate mine too but I’m scared and this motivated me. Can’t wait to see more!

Wow, Nia such a beautiful & brighter kitchen now. It even looks bigger. You could even paint your mini island white, too, since you own it! Your cabinets are almost the same color as ours, but I don't know if I can do it, being old & not very agile these days. I could paint it since we own our home. It sure would make it brighter & bigger. Ours is a galley kitchen. That's OK. It was pretty new & updated back in 99" when we bought it. My husband came across it being a realestate man, he found it. It had a beauty salon in it. So when I retired from Jc Pennys, I started bringing my clients to my home salon. My husband got his big 6 car garage. We had the whole main floor all painted & all new windows, 16 mediums, no big ones like sliding doors or the front big windows. 4 brs upstairs & 2 brs downstairs. So the kitchen looked pretty cool with new paint & new window & the new cabinets. We also put a new roof on it. When you get your new home, I bet you'll be busy doing a lot of DIY projects! Omg your house sounds amazing!!! How long were you a hair stylist? Yes, definitely paint since you own. I called my apartment complex and asked if I could paint but they told me no so this was the alternative solution

I love what you did to your kitchen cabinets I now want to do that to my cabinets. I've been wanting new cabinets in my kitchen for so long. I have a a 1957 built home. The cabinets have been painted I'm sure over beautiful wood cabinets. Over my sink at the top there's a wooden fluted design that would also will need to be covered. I may want to get new brackets to replace the ones that been on the cabinets. The other day one of my grandchildren accidentally made one of the cabinets come off the brackets and my husband was able to put back together. I will do what you did check out some videos on how to update my cabinets with contact paper
