This kitchen is a dream! I thought a nice solution to the backsplash would be to get some vintage/refurbished big tiles either leaning (if they were large floor tiles) or on the wall so they are easy to clean but make a nice statement

Whoa, 50bucks for four solid copper pans? What a steal. Fantastic kitchen. Classic farmhouse style. 10/10. What a rare gem. For backsplash you could do a thin copper plate to stay consistent. But a simple stainless sheet could match well also, in line with that fantastic stove you got there.

I’ve never cared for any kitchen but I’m in awe of the quality of materials used…I do love real wood and concrete. Your walls make me think of traditional mud huts here in South Africa, they tend to be lime washed in earth colours. Like wash is more organic and natural than paint I believe

Gaz, to protect the paint against splashing you could use wall varnish. I have colourless one with a matte finish in my kitchen but there are also glossy versions. It's grease-resistant, almost invisible and easy to clean.

For the backsplash, you could put up a clear laminate to keep the esthetic until you find something better. It would be easy to wipe in the mean time should anything get back there. I also love the hot water tap for rapid hot water especially with it being filtered.

@@gazoakleychef Yes, you could do homemade, but there are some that can be purchased almost like a wall paper that can be peeled that you could put up easily with an exacto-knife or X-Acto-knife. They are actually fairly cheap as you can get the laminate and exacto/X-acto knife for about $30 or less which is around £24 or less depending on how much you need. The back splash may also be called wall protector. It’s a cheap easy solution until you find something you like better in the kitchen. 😊

SUGGESTION FOR BACKSPLASH: try a copper plate, rectangular, that copies the colour of your pots, or, a silver-rustic metal plate, that can be affixed to the wall. It blends in, doesn't look modern and is certainly unique. Old kitchens used to have them but a rectangular plate that isn't too reflective, may fit perfectly with your current style. It bring together the back hanging pots and the large dark wood centrepiece. SECOND OPTION: Since you loved your visit to Mexico, a rectangle of pottery coloured tiles ( maybe just 2 or 3 rows). Or, blue/white Moroccan or Turkish patterned tiles to represent the variety of spices you blend so often. Neither is expensive and both styles complement all the design choices already there, without being too "sci-fi." Best of luck, from LA. Ciao!

The kitchen is gorgeous. If you want to keep the same plan with using cutting boards behind the stove, I think you could. You could collect some rough or damaged vintage cutting boards and cut them into small tiles and attach them to the wall like a tile backsplash made of rustic wood. The difference in thickness of the tiles would add an interesting texture. Only if you are concerned about that wall getting greasy or discolored. It's an absolute dream kitchen. You're such a lovely person, I am so happy that you got this excellent space to work and present from.

I love the kitchen, very warm and it looks like an old movie set or the hobbit house. I would definitely keep the island. If you feel it is to low, raise it and try and salvage the trim piece at bottom to cover the feet that will elevate it.

I LOVE the island!! You could put it on a low platform or "Feet" to bring it up. One thing I do like is that we can see the entire counter and stovetop behind you, in the shot. But maybe they can angle the shot so we can still see the counter tops.
