saw them twice in Austin, TX in the 80s. 2nd time they were the opening band for The Members (I'm in love with a working girl.) I left after Dream Syndicate and went to another club to see The Big Boys and TSOL.

I bought this cassette when most music stores only sold cassette and punk rock was very much alive. I bought the cassette based on the group's physical appearance. You guys say velvet underground influence. These guys are punk. I loved this album.

Shrinkwrap 1988-2013 You'd imagine The Dream Syndicate were hugely influenced by the Velvet Underground. Pick up a copy of "Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History Of Punk", The Dream Syndicate's relation to the Velvets is explained in depth, within the first chapter (or second, I forget). And don't forget to buy a copy of this, to support the band.
