Man, that intro is so killer. John's guitar tone is so on point. I would have loved to hear that song live in person. I wish they would rerecord this song. Dream Theater's production has come such a long way.

?? The current studio version is perfect as it is. Derek's keys are amazing, and those 90s albums have an atmosphere that the new albums just don't have. Plus, that was prime LaBrie. A modern rerecording could not compare.

I think it's because this song is way more 'metal' than anything from images and words, and metal sounds heavier in a lower tunings (to an extent obviously, lower doesnt always mean heavier, but with DT it seems to. Train of Thought, the metal album, has no songs in E Standard whatsoever)

15:15 - He literally suffers as he sings that. I have no Idea why DT still play those songs and do not pitch them down. And please don't tell me about -1 transposition, it clearly was not enough. It should've been -5 or -7. James recently released an album called 'A beautiful shade of Gray', it has showed CLEARLY what songs James feels comfortable singing. Playing songs in original tuning is a torture for both James and the audience.

Damn James, you are really disappointing to hear. DT should consider hiring another vocalist.

Suggestions anyone? Ray Alder? Michael Kiske (which would never happen, but the dude still has it, could handle the back catalog and it would certainly be interesting)?

The old stuff is tough. Their new music accommodates his current range way better.

Feeding the trolls just this once: You know, 10 years on and there are still people whining about MP? Seriously? Jeez...let it go. These are the kinds of obsessive fans that no band wants. The same ones that would whine just as loudly should MP ever (God forbid) return to DT because MP wasn't playing MM's parts right or something...or worse, they would complain that MP wasn't playing MP's parts the way MP should play MP's parts. At least MM is more consistent with playing parts, MP used to improvise and change stuff all the time...because he was bored and it got stale...did you Stans ever whine then? If DT pisses you off that bad and you can't help yourself but to be negative and whine about it not being the way YOU want it to be, then go start your own band or go listen to something else. I mean, why bother if it aggravates you that much? Doesn't make sense and is annoying.

You seem to be seriously butthurt. Jeez... let it go, mate. Writing a damn essay about what others think... I wonder what makes your opinion more valid than opinions of others. Fucking snowflake offended by someone else's shoe size. Get a life

Read my comment. This is not about MP. The drumming here is basic (at best) and it's not what you expect of this band. Coupled with a dead singer who won't be professional and adapt his lines... Let's say I admire your capacity to focus on the other instruments.

It's not sounds good; Labrie can't sing this anymore -1 tone is not helpful for him, a masterpiece without a master is just a piece. Horrifying... 😣
