My Profile: 30+ years percussion experience (specialize in prog rock). I began playing percussion at the age of 9, since then I have studied percussion under various professional instructors, played in school, and played in a band for several years. I believe that my style most closely emulates that of Mike Mangini, Mike Portnoy, and Neil Peart.

Brian, not Jason. My sincere apologies! I’m a drummer of 45 years now, started when I was 11 years old. I’ve seen several videos of drummers attempting to play 6:00 by Dream Theater, but none as good as this! You not only need serious experience to play most any DT songs (especially those with Mike Portnoy), but you also need to be in great physical shape. Most of Portnoy’s complex skills are very demanding on the body! I’m 56 now and can’t play Portnoy’s songs like I could ten years ago. Again, incredible job Brian!

Unless you're M. Mangini or M. Portnoy, this is a challenging song from a percussion standpoint. It contains everything you'd expect from a high-level song. Replicating the quality of the album version is always the goal. Thank you for the kind words. With the mixing and mastering, one never knows exactly how it will all turn out until the end. Some of it depends on how well the song was originally recorded. Anyway, thanks again.

@@precisepercussion - be patient, this channel will increase, it takes time especially staying so focused (I appreciate that though, like it being 'series' rather than random one-offs) though I'm pretty sure if you hit 'big names' like you tossed in a Slayer, it will generate more traffic faster (Metallica, Maiden, Pantera) and/or the more classic route of Zeppelin, Yes, Rush heck, I'd love to see some Jethro Tull too
