Kevin Moore had feel to his stuff that is evident in the first three albums which were legendary!

This song was performed nearly every night on the images and words tour in 1992. There are many live bootlegs of this song on YT. It was another Moore Masterpiece. He layer down the magic of this band. This song was written 90-91, and released on the silent man single as a bonus track.

Its actually from "The Silent Man" single CD. I bought it at a record store back around 1995.

This is the best snare sound Mike Portnoy ever recorded. Just after this, he started doing the "half-muted-piccolo" thing that everyone was doing in the mid to late 90s, which was an attempt to get that "Korn" sound that all the idiot record buyers were into. Glad that's over with... but this is one of those rare moments that a band got some incredible sounds on tape in just the right way. Some people reading this are asking themselves, "What does 'on tape' mean?"

DT's best instrumental. Personally, it rivals much of the others combined,

I'm impressed a lot by Rudess' technicality when playing the keyboards, but when it comes to more mellow songs like this one, I really prefer Moore's style.

all the highest rated dream theater albums on any website including prog archives are mostly all albums with kevin moore. kevin moore was a genius, just like Richard barbieri in porcupine tree. the other keyboard players have more virtuosity, but not the same ability to create music that will last trough the ages.

@superhomsar2112 I went to a concert in Los Angeles back in 2002. They played Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence in its 42 minute entirety. During "Goodnight Kiss", I swear they played about a minute of it before the vocals came in. Maybe I was mistaken, they do like to throw a lot of semi-improvised stuff into their songs. But it sure sounded a lot like Eve.

One has to wonder how a track that is so epic, so gorgeous, is only a B-side, and not included on the 'Awake' album? Were they afraid it would be too Moore dominated/not metal enough/too Floyd sounding?
@titou13848 жыл бұрын
You really have to admit it's not really linked to the general sounding of the album. However it would fit quite well after Space Dye Vest, as a calm outro
@kevinneace90087 жыл бұрын
I read that this song was cut from Awake along with To Live Forever in order to accommodate Space Dye Vest.

Moore was brilliant. But according to Portnoy if he had stayed in the band they would have definitely broken up. I'd rather have more dream theater!! But Moore is definitely a genius and the best they've ever had as far as tastefulness and magic.

I think I agree. As far as pure, incredible skill, Rudess is probably better and possibly the best rock keyboardist ever. But there was something about Kevin Moore that just worked.
