great playing by mangini.. the audio quality is bad coz its recorded from the audience.. he’s an amazing drummer.. BUT, ever since he begin his performance with DT, he always failed to play a beauty hihats sound like portnoy did or any drumers who covers any DT songs did. he’s an extraordinary drummer but he needs to change his way of hitting that hihats..

I think I’d prefer the ones performed by Sons of Apollo or Portnoy-Sherinian-MacAlpine-Sheehan, this one is too guitar-centric. Although it could be because of the sound quality, but I can’t hear how each instrument interacts with each other in their performance.

Too heavy - handed, Manjini is good but he is giving a bad impression on Portnoy's cymbal fill... So many parts are lacking.... # Nobody can replace Portnoy.

Vi esse vídeo só agora, mas antes tinha visto um outro com o Mangini que dava uma agonia. Falta alma mesmo. Mas esse tá bem melhor que o que tem The Gift of Music. Engraçado que é da mesma turnê. Não sei se foi a qualidade do vídeo ou se ele saiu experimentando uns estilos.

vi um vídeo da música finaly free esperando as viradas que o portnoy fazia no solo , mas cadê só tentou uma e ficou fora de tempo , matou a música. ele é um monstro. mas tinha melhores que ele na audição , marco minneman por exemplo era meu favorito , pelo jeito de tocar e pelo carisma , mas não sabemos qual critério usaram , a verdade é que a maioria dos fãs não ficaram satisfeitos ...

Did you notice john petrucci fucking.up left and right around 2:10 Wonder if mangini may be reason. I've seen John play and he usually plays some of the most complicated and fast solos I've ever seen like it's nothing. But that was with portnoy. I still feel mangini was a bad fit. @Eagleeye Jones Might be an unpopular opinion but the band changed their direction a lot when Rudess joined, became a lot more unfocused/shreddy/wanky Not to say there aren't good songs and albums but if you listen to the albums chronologically you can totally feel the shift, also just wanted to say Sherinian is underrated
