I whole-heartedly agree. Part 1 (Someone Like Him) sets up part 2 so well, and part 2 is so well written and emotional. Part 2 still blows my mind every time I hear it. A true masterpiece of song writing and execution.

I ran my first marathon this summer and was listening to my iPod the whole time. Just by coincidence, this song happened to be playing when I got to the finish line. The whole 'story ends where it began' theme was perfect for me at that moment.

The section starting at 2:14 with the riff bass is so smooth and soothing, fits perfectly the lyrics. DT has a incredible talent at creating musical atmosphere that do just that.

That bass riff is one of the best parts in the whole song. Myung is severely underappreciated in this band.

This is a type of music that a lot of people just don't get. It's kind of over the heads of most of the mainstream music listeners out there. The structure of the songs as well as the themes behind them are different than what usually appeals to mainstream. DT is a band that fans can digg and musicians listen to and say,"Whoa, did you hear that?"

How about the unsung hero on part 2, John Myung. Good lord that bass riff!!! Myung needs more credit although I'll admit it is easy to overlook him in a band which features geniuses like Portnoy, Petrucci, Rudess, and LaBrie...

every single member (minus LaBrie...hes an excellent singer but nothing superior) is a god at their instrument and are the best of all time. Myung is the greatest bassist alive, but Cliff Burton has him beat for all time. Petrucci is the greatest of all time. Rudess is the greatest keyboardist of all time (perhaps the greatest pianist) and Portnoy is the greatest drummer of all time. and they're in the same band.....go figure
