You failed to mention that Jordan was invited to Julliard School of Music at the age of 9. He is a master musician. Only 8% of applicants get selected to attend Julliard. He has worked with many old school bands, Deep Purple is one that comes to mind.

Well well! Always excited to see nick trying to persuade lex for dream theater 😬😬😬😬 Really enjoyed this solo, hadn't seen it for some years, he is also fire in liquid tension. And to me what sets him apart is that he never settles. He is always trying new things and sounds and inventing new instruments. As a suggestion I recommend you to have a one sitting listen to SIX DEGREES OF INNER TURBULENCE DISC 2. And also try to read into lyrics along side the tone and emotion of each part. ❤❤

Moore had a "sound" and a style that is VERY underrated. I LOVE the 3 albums he created with Dream Theater. And his "Piano" musings in "Chroma Key" (his solo material), and his sampling and _other_ style of playing with "OSI" (Kevin, Jim Matheos on Guitar, Sean Malone on Bass, Mike Portnoy & later, Gavin Harrison on Drums). Also guested on a few earlier Fates Warning albums.

This is a great video, it shows what an awesome keyboard player he is. I think nowadays in DT he is underchallenged, so I'm glad for him, that he's playing solo or sometimes with other artists. I have an CD of him and John Petrucci, great stuff. My favourite part of Jordan in DT is in the live shows or live DVDs is, when he's showing up front of the stage with his portable keyboard (which I call the axe 😆) and he is playing a solo or duelling with John Petrucci ... if you haven't seen you should check Take the time of the Chaos in motion live DVD 🤘

Well alrighty then! That's a horse of a different color. He goes to chair 1. Sorry Keith and Rick. Sorry Banks and Wright. About nine minutes into the video, Monsieur plays a section, which you peg as ELP, but was really more like Patrick Moraz's "I" solo album, at least so far. I stopped the tape. Moraz is another great to consider. Well after that, Monsieur evolved even more, and ended sounding a bit like Jan Hammer, and my bud, here in Charlotte, Woody Williams, "The Funky Geezer", who may alas be fastest of all. Thanks for clearing that up. I was all like "Jordan Who???" I'll seek out more of his and their work, and give metal a chance. It was skipped over at the time, because of timing.

These are a few of my favorites you may want to checkout (being a HUGE fan of Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, Jan Hammer and Jon Lord): Kevin Moore (ex-Dream Theater, Chroma Key, OSI) James Gilmour (Saga) Joost van den Broek (Ayreon, After Forever, Sun Caged, Sphere of Souls) Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep) Mark Stanway (Magnum) Kerry Livgren/Steve Walsh (Kansas) Eddie Jobson (Frank Zappa, Roxy Music, UK) Ryo Okumoto (Spock's Beard) Derek Sherinian (ex-Dream Theater, Planet X, Platypus/Jelly Jam, Sons of Apollo) Jem Godfrey (Frost*) - Hope you seek them out and their respective bands (and extended live soloing) 🙂!

Comments are off on the Raffle video, so I'll comment here. It's weird how every once in a while one of your videos will slip through without me being notified. It doesn't happen a lot, but the raffle video was one of them. I was patiently waiting and watching for the raffle vid, but never got a notification. Then last night, since I have KZbin TV and can easily watch KZbin on my tv, there it was and I finally saw it. But alas, I as a loser. One other thing, you asked what type or category of music would we like to see more videos of, and I couldn't choose and didn't know right off how to answer that question. For me, I don't think that it's any particular genre I'm after, but usually it has to be something I'm familiar with. But on the flipside, I have watched your vids out of curiosity when not familiar as well. In your poll, I think I was leaning towards Radio hits, and also Classical and Jazz stuff because I don't think you do enough Jazz and Classical, but I know that might mean getting a more limited audience.

I think my favorite prog keyboardist has to be Richard Barbieri of Porcupine Tree. Love his use of atmospheric sounds. Richard Wright and Tony Banks are also up there for me. Jordan is obviously super talented but I feel like he has a tendency to overplay. Still his skill level is astonishing.
@mvunit3
@mvunit3 Жыл бұрын
Funny you mention Richard. The _original_ keyboardist for Dream Theater was "Kevin Moore" for their 1st 3 albums, VERY much the "pre-Rudess" type of playing, but when he quit, he was more interested in sampling and a more minimalistic playing, or more on Piano. Take a listen to his solo projects for "Chroma Key" or under his name. And for the _otherside_ of his playing abilities and that Barbieri type of style, his other project "OSI', which consisted of Jim Matheos of Fates Warning on Guitar, Mike Portnoy on Drums, and later Gavin Harrison.

Its very cool to see Lexi "Blown Away" by Rudess. He is in my Top 20 Rock/Prog Metal keyboardists, and she has yet to watch the DVD "Score" by Dream Theater behind you guys! 😉 But there is also THIS, from Japan (on the "Train of Thought Tour"): kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2GvnKCbipujeck He also keeps up on the latest technology, and has SOOO many videos of the odd gadgets he plays, its really astounding. . . . And then there is his mentor, influence and inspiration Keith Emerson, who he befriended. You BOTH have yet to experience Keith LIVE, if soloing on Piano, On his various Synthesizers, the Moog, and then literally DRAGING his Wooden Beast to the stage, the Hammond B3, and all the antics around and ON it! Its a sight to behold guys!: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4fOg2uDob-kiJY There are soo many greats out there that are hardly known, I mentioned a few on the Community page for the Vote of the best, but Rick Wakeman, Jon Lord, Jan Hammer and Keith Emerson inspired soo many, and I am glad they are passing on the torch to the young and many that are now pushing 40 to 60+ years old with their respective bands. - Gives me even MORE ideas for Marathons 😁!
