I just don't understand Labrie's performances this tour. He CAN and he DOES reach those high notes like in "I don't wanna die". The problem is his bizzare articulation. It looks like he tries to be overly "creative" singing the song, maybe he just needs to stick to a more simplistic approach and take those notes without crazy vibratos and stuff...

The guy is a genius, even if you think he's doing it wrong; he knows exactly what he's doing and why he's doing it no matter what you think. People's mistake is to fall into the prejudice that he must give a good show every night and that is not the case in the life of a singer. There are many things that people should value about this guy, for example tonight he has the flu and yet he goes out to give the show, and so on many occasions the guy has to put up with people criticizing him and speaking ill of him. , too many times the sound is lousy and affects the execution of it. Or there are just nights when he can sing well but he knows he can't give it his all because the next night he has to give another 2 hour show. What he does in the studio is impressive, ask any singer and they'll tell you that James is sick, and it's practically impossible to replicate that live performance night after night. People should appreciate James a lot more, even though he sounds horrible sometimes, that's what he should do.

@@eliangarcia77 yes, many people pointed out that it was a flu, there would be no other reason for him to sound this bad. James is a true legend, because he's been giving 2 or 3 hour performances for this long. DT's schedule is so tense so he barely rests, your statement totally makes sense. It was just a big surprise that he sounds like this AT THE BEGINNING of the tour. His voice typically deteriorates near the end of their tours when he's just so exhausted and fatigued, but also winter has never gone easy on him. If you compare summer 2019 to winter 2020 you can hear a huge decline.

It's a tape, my friend. They play to a metronome these days. You can also hear at the very end of that guitar solo in the intro that there are two electric guitars. There's a harmony in the tape, if that makes sense. It's the same with JPs backing vocals, he isn't actually singing - it's all on the tape, and timed up nicely to the click. And unfortunately, some lead vocals in Bridges in the Sky on this channel are also on the tape.
