Minute 5:17, my favorite passage from the entire album - which is brilliant. Monster bass tone, with that chorus and growl, great ambience, awesome groove, and dreamy guitars. In the studio version, the interaction between the keys/piano and the guitar is awesome, and when the distorted palmute starts, it's got this shifting panning that is simply awesome.

People need to lay off James. It's not his fault that his voice is in this condition and he is making the best of it. I thought this was a fantastic performance of an absolute masterpiece that I didn't realize DT were still capable of. I love this song and this album.
@Newspin2 жыл бұрын
Would you lay off Petrucci or Rudess if every fourth note was off? I realize that voice is a particularly difficult instument to maintain, but no matter how much I love James as DT frontman, I can hardly listen to him live anymore - not even in official releasese like Distant Memories-Live or the 25th Anniversary Images show. I had to stop watching both concerts because I simply could not take it anymore. And those were official realeases AFTER they cleaned many of the major mistakes up. Once again, I don't mean to bash or offend, least of al all our favourite Pirate, but for the first time in 15 years I am seriously contemplating not watching them live once they eventually are allowed to tour back here in Germany. I think its fair to criticize, and criticism is at times hard to take, but I believe here it is warranted and justified. :-(

Love the song, the album, LaBrie has been way worse, drums finally sound like drums, but these playbacks are unbearable to me and take me out of it every single time, like bad CGI in a movie. Also, the click is too obvious, nothing fluctuates like it should. Compare JP's solo in the middle The Count of Tuscany's in early live shows and now. He saves it because he's awesome, but you can feel the pulse is so rigid where it shouldn't be. Orchestras don't play to a click, neither should these guys. These two things are the reason I don't go see them anymore, they kill the organic nature and the live feel they need with such music, to make sure not everything is square and pure math.
@undeetanne78842 жыл бұрын
The click was a very bad decision. I was shocked at how lifeless the performance was when i saw them on the dtoe tour. since then I never even considered seeing them live again.
