Five of the Dreamcatcher members were in a standard cute Kpop group called Minx. The group was unsuccessful so the company added two new members and redebuted them as Dreamcatcher, with a completely new dark concept and a musical style that combines rock, metal, kpop melodies, and EDM. They struggled for years to achieve success in the Korean music market because rock is not popular there. They have gathered a very large following outside of Korea and that has brought them a measure of fame in the Kpop world. Since Covid ended they have toured extensively in America and Europe. They hold very few concerts in South Korea. The irony in all of this is that 4th gen Kpop girl groups have been heavily influenced by them and are achieving the popularity that all InSomnias (fan name) wished Dreamcatcher had gotten years ago.

BEcause is a "Summer song" by Dreamcatcher, which inspired by the horror movie 'US'. They will have a comeback next month for the final part, part 3 of ongoing Apocalypse trilogy (part 1 MAISON, part 2 VISION). Hoping the new song will have the sword again 🗡️🤘 Oh, Dreamcatcher was formerly known as MINX under Dreamcatcher Company which formerly known as Happyface Ent.

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.

FYI again : They also said during their times in a variety show called Weekly Idol that this song is about a love-turns-into-obsessive and toxic(?) relationship. The word of "BE" in a form of capital words came from Hanja word that means "sadness", and so it represent with their hands gesture that symbolizing the word. And one interesting fact about this mv, it was inspired from a horror movie called Us. Once again, greetings from InSomnia of Indonesia branch😎🤟

This is the song that got me into Dreamcatcher in a big way. I live in England but flew to New York last year to finally see them live and I was not disappointed. As you're also into metal I highly recommend you listen to their song called No More, it's heavy as f*ck and is probably my favourite song of theirs - there is no official video but there's an amazing fan made video you can check out.

dreamcatcher \:D/ they have a great and diverse discography since they rarely revisit a previously used genre/sound. they have soft ballads to metal and everything in between including combinations rarely if ever heard before in music. and their vocals :D

Nice reaction! I think I finally found a reactor that had majority the same impressions about the song, music arrangements, vocals, and the whole package of the performances... I believe our precious InSomnia would provide you some informations about our Ladies, their discography, the storyline of the song, etc... Thus, maybe I shall said that this song is one of the softer title track from them, cause it should be a summer song, but Dreamcatcher have their own style to deliver a summer song... Among their title tracks, this song is the only one that speak about love or romance, although it was not a simple cute bubbling love story like other summer songs out there... The first time I saw the music video I completely lost my mind because I’m a massive Dreamcatcher fan 😆 I adore Kpop but I think for those who are not keen on Kpop/pop but really enjoy and appreciate good music (or are fans of rock/metal), Dreamcatcher is the group to listen to. They incorporate real rock elements in all their title tracks, they mix genres so well and they all truly have vocal chops to sell a song/concept. Their discography is absolutely fantastic. Not to mention they are beast performers on stage and live performances is where they thrive ☺️

DC used to be the group Minx, when they were a group of 5. They were rebranded and added Gahyeon and Handong to their line up. If you search their stuff as Minx, you’ll see the major difference in content. Dreamcatcher is a fantastic group. Great discography. Nothing like what people expect when they think of kpop. So good.

I love love love this song, it’s one of my favorite from Dreamcatcher, i love how it seems to be a love song but really, they’re just telling the person they don’t really have a choice or else “they’ll take their breath until their face becomes ocean blue” lol and the fact that the MV is heavily inspired by the movie US and has 2 very popular horror movie sound effects. Yet, not many people realize that dark side of the song/mv, it’s like a bit subtle for people who don’t know Dreamcatcher. So well done!

You should definitely check out their other stuff- Title tracks: boca, odd eye- the other two parts of Dyatopia trilogy that Scream is also apart of. They were known as a group called "MINX" and it was composed of 5 members : Jiu, Dami, Yoohyeon, SuA and Siyeon. The concept was bubbly (I like bubbly concept). MINX debuted in 2014 with 'Why Did You Come To My Home?' [MV]. But they rebranded it to "Dreamcatcher" and debuted as a 7 member group : Jiu (Leader), Yoohyeon, Dami, Handong (She wasn’t a MINX member), Gahyeon (Maknae) (She wasn’t a MINX member), Siyeon and SuA. Dreamcatcher has been known for their dark concept (I like dark concept too). Dreamcatcher debuted in 2017 with 'Chase Me' MV.

yeah, they are genre blender. for some, we call it Dreamcatcher genre because of its distinct sound mix. Every title songs has different genre blend. the production team is top notch despite their small/medium company. The story was so fantastically done, and I got to talk about it a lot with my brother, who loves the move _Us,_ even though we don't usually talk about music since our tastes are so different. I'm sure you've been inundated with recommendations and information on "BEcause" already, so let me just provide some name help, if you're still checking comments on this video. JiU - "jee-ooh" SuA - "sooh-ah" Siyeon - "she-yon" (this "eo" vowel doesn't exist in English, but it's similar to a short "o") Handong - "hahn-dong" Yoohyeon - "yooh-(h)yon" (same "eo" as Siyeon; the "h" in her name is mostly silent) Dami - "dah-mee" Gahyeon - "gah-(h)yon" (same "eo" as Siyeon and silent "h" as Yoohyeon) Hope that helps.
